As promised, Warner Bros./DC Studios have debuted a second trailer for Blue Beetle, and this extended look at the DC Comics-based superhero movie features plenty of new footage of Jaime Reyes in action as he faces off against Victoria Kord and her powerful henchman Conrad Carapax, aka The Indestructible Man.

Star Xolo Maridueña recently teased some appearances from other DC characters, but there doesn't seem to be any surprises in this teaser. Check it out for yourselves at the link below, and see if you can spot anything we missed.

We recently got confirmation that Blue Beetle will be the first official(?) DCU movie, so, depending on how it performs at the box office, we can expect to see Reyes in the shared universe currently being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it," reads the synopsis. "As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab."

"When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle."

The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, and Raoul Max Trujillo.

Blue Beetle is set to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.

"DCU's First Superhero"

Anyway, any predictions for final BO numbers for this movie? $100M?

@TheHumanSpider2 - $100 million ? You're a very generous spider. I think it's be lucky to reach half that.

@Th3Batman - I am going to say it reaches $250 million. While I don't think it looks good it is the one DC film I may check out. The team behind this have had nothing to do with the politics and drama at WB. I felt the same about Black Adam. I think it will only double it's budget and have an RT score at about 55 percent.

They really cancelled batgirl because it was unreleaseable, but this gets the theatrical release? Man I'm confused.

I mean it looks watchable (on a streamer) but Batgirl had star power, brand recognition and still the minority lead, but that gets cancelled and this gets a promotion and vfx budget? wtf WB.

@UniqNo - The thing with Batgirl is that it had Keaton and JK Simmons in it, and it was teasing that Batman Beyond adaptation...nothing of that is happening.
I do, however, think it was a mistake, the star power was there, not only the two I mentioned, but also Brendan Fraser (which btw, has been rumoured to be eyed to play Pa Kent in Legacy).

@TheHumanSpider2 - STILL THOUGH! Star power alone should have been enough for them to try and get some money back. "Recent Oscar winner hamming it up" surely would get more interest that what this movie is tracking at.

Wasn't the budget around the same? And both were meant for streaming release.... I mean I really don't understand it.

Fraser as Pa kent would he cool though, as long as this version is still alive. Had enough of the flash back stuff with Superman's human dad.

@UniqNo - Yup, both movies were made with the same budget, around $90M...and about Pa Kent, from what Gunn has implied, he will have a BIG role in the movie.

@UniqNo - eh better for the first latino superhero to be based on an actual latino character

Doubt that had anything to do with the cancelation though

@dracula - Na I hear that, but as far as a business decision, which was the basis for their cancellation of Batgirl, it don't make sense.

Surely VFX on this one cost more, the directors of Batgirl have a mainstream positive track record, also from minority backgrounds.

I just want to understand. Lol

@TheHumanSpider2 - Brendan Fraser as Pa Kent? I hadn't heard that, but that's damn good.

@DudeGuy - but why not cancel both? Eh I'll wait for gunn podcast when this year is over and all the dceu stuff is finally put to bed.

@MarkCassidy - Just wait...you will be getting Blue Beetle Mania!!!!

By the end of August you will be asking "Spider who?"

Ok but seriously don't you need to go into watching this with an open mind? Especially if you are going to review it. I get that the trailers are part of the overall experience of the film but it could be misleading.
