Chris Evans Talks Scott Pilgrim And Fears That Captain America Would Bomb!

In a revealing interview with Coming Soon, Chris Evans has talked about both Captain America: The First Avenger and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, focusing on the financial success, and possible failure, of them both. Be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site where you can read much more about his new movie, Puncture, as well as seeing him suggest that he and interviewer Max Evry smoke some weed...

You guys just shot some of "Avengers" in our fair city. The fans came out, the pictures hit the internet. Clearly you're a rock star now, the world's your stadium... how does that level of success change the equation?

It's been okay. I mean, it's crazy when you're filming, during the days we were shooting it was a hassle getting to and from places, but when the camera stops rolling my life kinda goes back to being relatively normal. Get a few people approaching me at restaurants, take a few pictures here and there. Nobody's waiting outside my apartment, no one's calling my mom's house.

It's interesting that you and Chris Hemsworth had the luxury of knowing you were gonna get another shot even if the solo films tanked.

Yeah, but the worry was what if "Iron Man" did its job and then "Thor" came out and did its job and all I kept thinking was, "Man, what if I'm the weak link in this chain? What if 'Captain America' bombs." Obviously I'm in "The Avengers" now, they can't boot me, but still, you don't want to be the one that's not carrying the load.

Another movie that people really loved was "Scott Pilgrim."

Yeah, me too, man! I can't believe more people didn't see it, what-the-f**k? It was such a good movie. The first time I saw it I was like, "this is my favorite movie." I love every second of that movie, and was so bummed more people didn't go see it.

Now it's on permanent midnight rotation at the New Beverly in LA, once a month.

Oh really? I didn't know that. No kidding.

Would you like to do another really far-out, stylized performance like that?

I'd love to do anything else with Edgar Wright. If Edgar Wright asked me to do anything, ANYTHING I'll do it. That was like one of the most fun, "Let's just go somewhere nuts." But if you're gonna go somewhere nuts you need a director you trust, because if you're going crazy you're handing the performance over. You're like, "Alright, I'm gonna put some wild sh*t down here, and then you're gonna cut and paste whatever performance you want in the editing room." Editing can change everything. If you're gonna swing for the fences it's a much more comforting feeling knowing you have a good director.

I agree with Gassy. Scott Pilgrim deserved to make more money than any of the shit James Cameron puts out there...

Yeah I was so bummed that they marketed it as a romcom....to me that is the sole reason not as many people went to see it.....glad it became a modern cult classic tho

Scott Pilgrim is now one of my favorite movies. I can't believe there are so many people out there that still don't even know anything about it. Many of my friends and people at my work have no idea. I hate them...

@dionysios Crashing a perfectly good plane just to be frozen. When it is a nuclear missile it makes sense a plane?
patriautism
patriautism - 9/20/2011, 3:33 PM
What makes less sense is how he crashed it on autopilot.
But the planes weren't nuclear ( remember that technology is how the allies one). The planes were powered by the cosmic cube, which was lost before he even crashed. That's another big one. But hey, if you comb through any good movie, you'll find flaws.

@Bod sorry i get ya now about the nuclear, i didn't see the bottom line. Still the movie is great regardless.

I still liked it but I was lost as to why he turned the auto pilot off and crashed it. If it had enough fuel to fly to the U.S. just fly south and let it go in the ocean bombs and all. Then when that video came out I was pleased just to see I was not the only one that noticed.

@ Catwoman1
He was pretty good as Lucas Lee, but I think he may be slightly behind Brandon Routh's Todd Ingram.

Kieran Culkin stole the show, however.

@dionysis Yeah sometimes you just have to accept the laws of the movie, and dispel the laws of actual reality. I mean the movie involves 2 guys with super powers, fighting over an alien cube that opens a portal to a realm, where gods live.. It's not based in reality so much.
CapemA
