The Tesseract (aka Cosmic Cube) has appeared in several films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though, it took center stage in Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger. The Red Skull and Arnim Zola want to harness the power of the Cosmic Cube to power their weapons. Then in the finale, Red Skull plans to use the Cosmic Cube and his long-range bomber to attack the United States of Awesome. Along the way, Red Skull scoops up the cube and results in him being disintegrated. Since he has no body to hold the cube any longer it lands on the floor of the bomber and melts through it like butter - dropping into the ocean. We will later find out that Tony's father Howard Stark recovered  the Tesseract.

After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals. Captain America leads the fight for freedom as the ultimate weapon against evil. When a terrifying force threatens everyone across the globe, the world's greatest soldier wages war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) was directed by Joe Johnston, from a script written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The film starred: Chris Evans as Captain America/Steve Rogers, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan as James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes, Tommy Lee Jones as Colonel Chester Phillips, Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt / Red Skull, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine and Toby Jones as Dr. Arnim Zola.

Simple. In Cap 3, let him meet a man named Aleksander Lukin.

Make him the president without anyone knowing. It was cool how they did it in EMH.

Perhaps he could be the one innitiating the Superhero Registration Act so that he can then have access to destroy/wipe out all superheros in the MCU. (On Earth that is) would be a total twist and would be beautiful villainy.

@TheRationalNerd That would be epic! Skull needs a grand return and that's the perfect way to do it.

@V8ER and @dethpillow

Man, I really appreciate the feedback you all. They could even go the route of having the Masters of Evil be apart of the 3rd Avengers flick. Zemo, Abomination, Enchantress Executioner, and Klaw all under Red Skull. I guess if the civil war franchise is said to be truly under "multiple films" they could have a part one and two to establish all of these things as a finale or some sort you know? Who knows, but it's always fun guessing. Zemo and Skull need to appear/reappear again. Only time will tell.

That one line: "I have seen the future, Captain!" has an entirely different meaning now. Especially since Skull worked directly with Zola. Like I've said before, CA:TWS made this movie retroactively better. Never seen anything like it.

the cosmic cube and the tesseract in the comics are two entirely different things

the movie's tesseract (which is different from the comics' tesseract) was also never referred to as the cosmic cube in the movie

the mcu tesseract is an infinity stone presumably over space

the cosmic cube is an object that grants omnipotence

the idiocy in this thread knows no bounds. we are lucky joss whedon knew well enough to not refer to the tesseract in the movies as the cosmic cube, to pave way for it being revealed to be an infinity stone

the cosmic cube and tesseract, in the comics, are two totally different things

comics' cosmic cube was one which could reshape reality. it was the equivalent of all 5 infinity gems being held together (or at least space, reality and power). even thanos craved it.

the comics' tesseract was a totally different item of far lesser power. they look similar, but are never referred to interchangeably.

the movies' tesseract, when the red skull got teleported away, was assumed to be teh equivalent of the comics' cosmic cube. however, now we know it's the space stone and not the cosmic cube, and is limited to only space manipulation/teleportation

these are totally different things with different functions. just because it's a shiny box just like the others, it doesn't mean it can just carry on their names.

what, the transformers are fighting over a cosmic cube too? that's cubish and also from the cosmos
hehemata
hehemata - 10/27/2014, 10:10 PM
joss whedon has NEVER referred to the tesseract in the movies as the cosmic cube, for this simple reason.

the cosmic cube is omnipotence in a single item

the movie's tesseract is merely 1 of a set of 6 items that grant omnipotence
