Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the 'Super-Soldier Serum' and bombarded by 'vita-rays.' Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers.

Thanks to the guys over at CineTalk, and another helpful tip off from my good friend RealIrOnMaN from SpiderMedia, we have the following higher resolutions scans from the digital edition of the latest Empire Magazine. While they don't reveal too much more, they do show off a few extra details and also offer a much bigger and better quality look at the previously released image of the Red Skull.

Captain America: The First Avenger is set to be released on July 22, later this year!

I'm still not completely sold on this movie. Sure all the main actors look great but the Hydra soldiers look terrible and where is Hugo Weaving's Nazi badge, I mean some people like me are worried that may try to ignore the Nazi thing too much, because I heard that in the video game that there are no Nazis. Finally I don't trust Joe Johnston sure he has made serious adventure movies but they are very bland and kind of lose you. Just Look at Jurassic park 3 and the Wolfman. But no doubt the trailer will look good this Sunday but it might be just deceiving. Just some of my concerns of this movie

I thought this would be the worst of the summer CBMs due to the director and cast but I am definitely changing my tune now.

But I'm still not sure about Hayley Atwell. But then again maybe it's cause I haven't seen her in anything.

this could definetly be the surprise hit of the summer.

@ seeyouannetea

they haven't shown the red skull yet because its the show stopper, scene stealer or if this was porn the money shot.

@seeyouanneta. I read an earlier article that he is actually wearing a fake face over the top of his red skull guise. It might explain why his eyes look kinda red underneath at the bottom.does any one else think he looks kinda pasty and false.

For some reason, the first shot of Chris Evans in costume looks a lot better than it has in previous posts. I guess the high quality helped to make it less bright, but that's just my opinion.

@WorldsGreatestdetective YES the nazi's are in the movie, there even a [frick]ing scene where cap punches an actor dressed up as hitler, Hydra are part of the nazi's but eventually go rogue when the nazi's start losing it.

@seeyouanneta I am glad there not showing what the red skull looks like because I want to be surprised and shocked when I see it on the big screen, movies give away too much information in the name of promotion, and Like marvel72 said its there money shot

I love that picture of Weaving as the Red Skull. Is it my imagination, or can you sort of see the red around his eyes? It's just so [frick]ing awesome to see the Cosmic Cube as well...and damn, Natalie Dormer looks stunning in that picture with Tommy Lee Jones. :)

@ Exiles I'm not saying they are not going to add Nazi's but I feel like they are kind of trying to limit it as low as possible.

Also @ Intruder that is your opinion (Not a big Indiana Jones guy sorry) Besides the hated CGI suit, I enjoy the clips of OA, Sinestro, Tomar-Re, Kilowag, the idea of parallax and fear being the thing that powers the yellow energy. Also Marin Campbell is a better director than Joe Johnston that is for sure. Now I'm still looking forward to both movies GL is my second favorite superhero and Cap is my favorite Marvel hero, but I have doubts on both like in GL how they might portray Carol ferris and the scenes with Hal's best friend, while in Cap some things as the Hydra soldiers and Joe Johnston and also I'm not that impressed by Marvel Studios lot of Movies (they have seem to get worse as they come out Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2). I'm not going to deny I'm DC/WB side of things but I don't have the fear of Cap and Thor as you guys might think, they still have to prove if they are that good (The thor trailer made me laugh, CGI looked terrible and it is looking pretty boring, I feel like that is why they showed the least amount of CGI at Comic Con)

@SHOCKER- I noticed the same thing! It DOES look red around his eyes. AND he must have dark contact lenses in because I am pretty sure thats not his real eye color.

@anneta....bulge? Do you mean the bulging sense of pride and justice swelling up in his chest?

@theawesome...It looks to me like "battle scars" on his shield. Probably from deflecting gunfire or shielding himself from explosions. The paint got scarred up and needs to be re-touched, giving Cappy that battle-tested look.

I still think the helmet/mask look a touch silly, but overall I am starting to really like the revamped costume. I am getting more and more excited about this movie. Hopefully it is a combo of Saving Private Ryan/Raiders of the Lost Ark/Bourne Ultimatum/Rocketeer. Is that too much to ask? ;-)
