Neal McDonough Says CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 To Shoot By Year's End, Teases NICK FURY Solo Movie

McDonough, who played Dum Dum Duggan in Captain America: TFA, reckons production on a sequel to that movie will commence by the end of this year, and he also says he will appear in the Nick Fury movie with Sam Jackson..

In an interview with IMDB Tv Blog about season 3 of Justified, Neal McDonough reveals a few tasty details on the Captain America sequel and that solo Nick Fury flick we had heard was on the cards. He says as soon as Thor 2 has wrapped up it will be straight on to Cap, and that he is really looking forward to Nick Fury for the chance to act alongside his friend Samuel L. Jackson..

Q: I understand you're going to reprise your CAPTAIN AMERICA role.

McDonough: Yeah, they’re planning (to go into production for) for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do THOR 2 and as soon as THOR has wrapped, they’ll do CAP 2. Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into NICK FURY because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything.

Q: Why is that?

McDonough: Because it’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man…And I just pray that they have a 1970s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s asses for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat. We’ve become friendly over the years.

Q: It sounds like you were a fan of the comic beforehand.

McDonough: Absolutely. I’m very well aware of the Marvel universe, and to be part of it is such a blessing. To go back to London and shoot there for four months, that was just a great year.

Plans change frequently with these type of things but if McDonough is correct I guess we have three Marvel movies shooting this year. Sequels to both Thor and Captain America as well as Iron Man 3. I guess Marvel are dead set on their 3 movies a year plan, but where does that leave long gestating projects like Ant-Man, Dr Strange etc? We know these type of films will have much smaller budgets, is it possible they may squeeze one of them in too? I wouldn't put it past em!

Wouldn't surprise me if this was billed for one of two movies set for a 2014 release.

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 next year (as they both start shooting this year) and Doctor Strange and Captain America 2 the year after.

Just wondering when Ant-Man is going to get his turn?!! After the final draft was submitted a few months back and Pym got a (silent) mention in Thor I expected some more movement.

Is it too much to ask for 3 movies in 2014? ;-)

I'm guessing that there are plenty more characters for Marvels Studios' 'second wave' Avengers movie to do before Fury gets any type of prequel. Although exploration into his rise into top spot at S.H.I.E.L.D would be interesting. It has to have some sort of mentioning somewhere along the line...

Him = AWESOME!!!

That guy, with as little lines and scenes as he had in CATFA, was a showstealer!!! I saw one scene of his and already i wanted a full on Howling Commandoes movie with him and Sam busting skulls!!! And just hearing him confirm that it WILL happen, that just makes my mother [frick]ing day!!!

Hmm, I can never quite envisage a Nick Fury film having the pull of the others, but I could see it used as a prelude to avengers 2, introducing the new big bad like Loki was in Thor.

they need to feature him and the invaders a whole lot more in any future instalments. His screen time was too short

A Sam Jackson/Nick Fury in the 1970's. How are they going to pull that off.? Sam Jackson still looks like he's 60, despite being forty years in the past, and DumDum looks like he's in his forties despite being thirty years later since we last saw him.

lol, Shaman I was just about to say how awful I thought he was in that movie. Atrocious actually, cringey bad! It's crazy how everyone sees such different stuff in movies/performances.

A Howling Commandos film in the 70's would be awesome. With them taking on a new more heroic look and Fury being the new hot shot. I'm down for that! The villain can be the remaining Hydra and Baron Von Strucker....I'm Down!

Gusto- That's bullshit and you know it. As naked as we all wanted Haley to be, that red dress was the best piece of female cloth ever fabricated. It would've seriously made anybody think twice about unbuttoning it instead of ripping it right off her.

I liked Volstagg..even though he wasn't used enough. Just though McDonough was such the generic jovial but tough hardcase with a few (supposed to be) witty lines. Wasn't much of a role in fairness but the rest of the Commandos did ok with what they had.

Excellent. I want a fifteen minute flashback opening(lets say taking out a Baron Zemo chemical facility)that really allows the Howling Commandoes to shine. I hope they can get Derek Luke and J.J. Field back as well.

Samuel L. Jackson can still get people to the theatre. I can see Nick Fury working. I wonder if AIM will be in it.

Ror- See, i guess your right about how we all see different things. Most everybody on here thought Stevenson's Volstagg sucked. For the longest time i thought i was in the twilight zone or somethin'. I thought the few lines he had in Thor were better delivered than his entire role in Warzone, as cool as he did look as Frank. And yeah, i'll give you the fact that McDonough's role was as you state it was. Only i thought it fit nicely in the light-hearted adventure i felt Cap's movie was. But i didn't think he "badly" delivered his lines though. Ah well, agree to disagree and all that jazz :)

Gusto- ;)

I would practically kill to see the secret marvel movie time line that reveals how old Nick Fury really is and what he's been up too.

I think McDonough was fine, it just wasn't much of a role. I hope everything he says in the interview is true, but marvel needs to start working on more than one movie at a time to get more characters out there.

@Ror's credibility just went down in my estimation ;-) Hated Dugan and Bucky but loved Volstagg??! He was almost as poo as Hogan (the only two things I disliked, casting wise, in any of the Marvel outings)

I hope this is true but I don't see how they'll be able to make IM3, Thor 2 and Cap 2 all in the same year unless they only START filming Cap 2 in December. If they can make it happen I'll be one happy fanboy.

I don't know that the Nick Fury that Jackson presents could carry his own movie. I won't pass final judgement until after Avengers, but so far he does not seem like a highly skilled and trained soldier/leader to me, more like Shaft with an eye-patch.
