VIDEO GAMES: Peggy Carter Suits Up As CAPTAIN AMERICA As Marvel Games Celebrates Cap's 75th Anniversary

Her show may have been cancelled, but that's done nothing to dent Agent Carter's (Hayley Atwell) popularity. As a result, the hero suiting up as Cap is sure to make a lot of fans very happy indeed.

To celebrate Captain America's 75th anniversay, Marvel Games has dreamed up six alternate versions of the star spangled Avenger for their various mobile and online games. They're all pretty cool, but the ones likely to get the most attention on social media are Peggy Carter and Sharon Rogers. As you can see below, they've both suited up as the new Cap, and the results are actually surprisingly cool!

"The unique stories and styles of each Marvel game provide an opportunity for every title to introduce a boldly imaginative version of the legendary Super Soldier," said Bill Rosemann, Marvel Games Creative Director today. "Because our partners enjoy the freedom to craft different storylines for players, fans will see how each game’s new version of Captain America is sharply distinct from one another but still completely authentic to the ‘Living Legend’ we all know and love."

Depending on the response from fans, it wouldn't be too surprising to see these two find their way into the comic books at some point, and while Peggy becoming Captain America is probably off the table (unless she suited up during the late 40s/early 50s for reasons unknown), there have already bee rumours that Sharon could inherit the mantle from Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain America variant

Peggy Carter - In a world where Steve Rogers was assassinated before he could become Captain America, Peggy Carter joined the Super Soldier Program in his place. A former field agent, Peggy combined the powers of the Super Soldier serum with her top-notch combat training, defending the ideals of freedom and equality as that world’s Captain America.

Captain America variant

In an alternate universe where Captain America was never frozen in ice at the end of World War II, Steve Rogers and Allied resistance fighter Agent Peggy Carter helped win the great conflict and celebrated V-Day with a private marriage ceremony. Their daughter, Sharon Rogers, has taken on her father’s mantle. Highly trained in martial arts and espionage, and equipped with a blaster lance and energy absorbing shield, Sharon battles evil and tyrants around the world as Captain America.

@ALostCause - How can it be cliche if it hardly ever happens? I can think of like, two instances off the top of my head. 1 - Jane Foster Thor and 2 - Spoiler taking the Robin mantle after Tim Drake gets fired temporarily.

@Kurban - you just mentioned three times

So yes a fourth, 3 within the same company, would be cliche. Not to mention it happens all the [frick]ing time in other media.

Idk it isn't creative it's a lame gimmick.

@ALostCause - No...I didn't? Jane Foster being Thor and Spoiler being Robin is two times, one for Marvel and DC. And this is just a mobile game, so it counts even less that Peggy's wearing the Cap suit.

Outside comic books, I really can't think of any instance. So...I don't know what your point is.

So Captain America is a Brit? Shouldn't she be Captain Britain, who is a real superhero in the Marvel 616 universe.
