COMICS: New Details And Artwork From Damon Lindelof's LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT

Today, DC Comics launched a new digital-first comic book series, Legends of the Dark Knight. It will tell a series of standalone stories from some of the best writers and artists in the industry, kicking things off with Damon Lindelof and Jeff Lemire. Entertainment Weekly caught up with the duo, and Lindelof had this to say about the series. "I think it was Jeff’s idea to tell a story in that Year One zone. Bruce is an inexperienced Batman. He’s still working out the kinks in terms of how he’s going to fight crime. It felt like a fertile ground for storytelling."

"Actually, I think it was probably Damon who suggested the early-years thing," adds Lemire. "That really informed how I was going to approach it visually. I’ve always preferred the lean Batman, not the big-huge-bodybuilder-muscles Batman. I thought he could look a little ragged. His costume could look like a prototype and not really fit properly. It’s not body armor yet. Maybe, for the cape, he cut up some curtains. Batman is an interesting character from a visual standpoint because he’s so iconic. He can survive so many different types of interpretation and still be recognizable." Read the interview in full by clicking on the link below.

Or he might fade into oblivion, I guess we'll see :P

"I thought he could look a little ragged. His costume could look like a prototype and not really fit properly. It’s not body armor yet."

It was plain cloth for 65 years...that is, it USED TO used-to-be cloth...Not really digging the art (Batman's OK, the villains...meh), but since this iteration of the character no longer appears anywhere else in DC, I may check it out

For his cape it's like he cut up some curtains? Yeah, because it's not like he's a billionaire or anything! "I'm a billionaire and I need a cape. Alfred, pull down that curtain!"

But LOTDK was always a Year One era comic-book. And what's with all this digital only crap? This would have been the first Batman comic that I would be prepared to pick up on a regular basis in over 15 years and I can only get it digitally? [frick] you, DC!

Not true @DukeAcureds. Only the first 70 or so. Once Knightfall occurred, it became a canon crossover/non-continuity series. I'm a big BIG fan of the Legends of the Dark Knight books.
