Storm remains one of the most popular Marvel Comics characters of all time, and when she's finally brought back to the big screen courtesy of Marvel Studios, the MCU will have one of its most powerful superheroes to date. In the meantime, the character is undergoing some big changes on the page, getting a cool new costume courtesy of X-Men artist Russell Dauterman.
Clearly inspired by Ororo Munroe's appearance in the 1980s, this costume wouldn't look out of place on the big screen and has received widespread praise from fans on social media.
"Was very happy to design more X-Men!" the artist later Tweeted. "The assignment was to give Ororo an updated version of her '80s mohawk costume - I wanted to merge that punk aesthetic with her goddess and superhero looks." There is no mohawk, of course, with Storm instead given coily hair that's more in line with her African roots. Responding to fans who were pleased the hero is being portrayed with natural hair, Dauterman said: "To be fair, Marvel was listening too!"
This redesign comes in time for Destiny of X, a Spring 2022 event that will once again shake up the X-Men's status quo as Jonathan Hickman's House of X and Powers of X did in 2019.
As for Storm, fans remain excited to see the powerful mutant brought back to the big screen, with many hoping she could be introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Until the X-Gene is properly introduced, that's probably unlikely, but the X-Men's MCU debut can't be too far away now.
