What If...? introduced us to a Peggy Carter Variant who took the Super Soldier Serum in place of Steve Rogers. Now, another version of that character is coming to the Marvel Universe in the pages of Captain Carter #1 next March from the creative team of Jamie McKelvie (Young Avengers) and artist Marika Cresta (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra). McKelvie has also redesigned Carter's costume.

The five-issue limited series will introduce Captain Carter in an adventure that finds Peggy Carter as a woman out of time, facing the reappearance of an old foe in the modern-day and deciding what she stands for as the wielder of the shield.

In a reality where Agent Peggy Carter took the Super-Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers, the hero is pulled from the ice after being lost in action during World War II. Peggy struggles to find her footing in a modern world that’s gotten a lot more complicated – cities are louder, technology is smarter and enemies wear friendly faces. Everyone with an agenda wants Captain Carter on their side, but what does Peggy want and will she have time to figure it out when mysterious forces are gunning for her?

"I'm as big a fan of the Captain Carter we've seen onscreen as anybody, so I jumped at the chance to create our own version," McKelvie says. "I'm having a great time exploring what it would be like for Peggy to wake up nearly 80 years after the end of the war. The world remembers the myth of Captain Carter, but to Peggy the reality was just yesterday. Now she finds herself in a nearly unrecognizable new world, how does she fit in? Can she be the super hero people want her to be? Exploring these questions has been really exciting."

The first issue of Captain Carter arrives on March 9, and you can check out both the cover art for issue #1 and McKelvie's take on Peggy's new costume below:

would rather have this as an animated series than zombies, even if the agent carter episode was a rocky start to the series.

Seems they are really leaning into the Atwell likeness. Makes me wonder if we’ll ever see her again in live action

Cool cover although the suit is different. But they wanted to make the UK shield remain the same like it was in What If.

They are slowly laying the path for a live action debut.

It'd be cool to see her interact with Brian Braddock

I'm not against the Captain Carter concept, but I'd prefer seeing more of Agent Carter. A comic finishing the arc of the TV series would be quite welcome. Then another volume could detail the early years of SHIELD and her role as a founder. She lived a full and interesting life, so let's see that rather than making her more like Steve.

I really liked Captain Carter… and the suit. She was strong yet feminine. Now they’ve got all woke and redesigned her to not look feminine at all; hair up, reduced boob size, unflattering costume. It’s just so sad. Captain Carter in What If wasn't sexualized at all. These woke retards can’t differentiate between feminine and sexualized.
