Marvel Comics Unveils Its "Next Great Superhero Team": DOC JUSTICE AND THE J-TEAM

Who are Doc Justice and the J-Team? Well, actually we're still not certain, but Marvel Comics has unveiled a first glimpse of the mysterious new superhero team in the following video.

The publisher shared a teaser image yesterday which positioned this new group of heroes as natural successors to the likes of like the Avengers, Defenders, and Thunderbolts. That remains to be seen, of course, but editor Nick Lowe certainly sounds confident.

"In the 17 years I've been editing comics, I love ushering in new characters," he said. "But I've never been so excited about a new team. The J-Team is going to change part of the Marvel Universe forever. I know we say that a lot, but it's true."

Hmm. The name is very DC-ish (not just the JUSTICE part, but it’s unabashedly camp), and their costumes are extremely non-descript. Some of them are just wearing a monotone 1-piece and a cape. Unveiling an entire new team of heroes at the same time is tricky, you need to put a lot of work into each one to make them unique and not just “J-team member #4”

They look too generic, like the superheroes created for dentist ads- kind of generic. This just looks bad.

Doc Justice is actually an established Marvel character in disguise. Calling it now. Also, Marvel writers should really stop making comedic references to DC if they keep stealing their IP.

Yeah, no [frick]ing shit. Every time anything happens it's "This'll change the Marvel universe forever! Until the next thing that'll really change the Marvel universe FOREVER for reals this time until the next thing that'll change the Marvel universe REALLY FOREVER this time!"
And nothing substantial sticks.

If you're that self aware of it, stop [frick]ing saying it.

Otherwise, this looks like it'll slip to obscurity.
