While we wait for news on the planned Blade Runner 2099 TV series, Titan Comics is taking us back to the iconic sci-fi world created by Sir Ridley Scott with its all-new Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus comic book.

Written by Kianna Shore with artwork from Mariano Taibo, it will follow a replicant and an ex-Marine in a story which promises to explore a whole new side of the Blade Runner Universe.

Today, we're delighted to share an exclusive lettered preview of the first issue as the comic's leads, Stix and Mead, take on a group of crooks...with bloody consequences! This looks seriously badass and promises to be a must-read for any Blade Runner fan.

The first issue goes on sale on July 31 and you can find all the pre-order information you'll need by clicking here.

Here's the official description for this electrifying new Tokyo Nexus series:

Tokyo 2015: Two Kalanthia survivors fight for their lives in a world where Blade Runners are the least of their problems.

Following a failed mission Off-World, the only two survivors of a combat squad, ex-marine Mead and Replicant combat model Stix, have returned to Tokyo to search for the traitor who left them to die.

Now operating as an unofficial private detective agency, Stix and Mead find themselves caught up in a deadly Patent War between the Yakuza, the Tyrell Corporation and Cheshire, a rival corporation developing their own bootleg Replicant technology as they search for a missing woman.

Sharing her excitement about the series when it was first announced, Shore said, "Creating a new comic series for Blade Runner is beyond my wildest dreams! Inspired by media such as Your Name, Arcane, and Crier's War, I'm thrilled to share my little piece of the Blade Runner universe, bringing Blade Runner all the way to Tokyo, Japan."

Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus's editor, David Leach, added, "Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus is a whole new chapter in the Blade Runner saga, and is going to be a worthy addition to the universe, with new characters, new drama and a whole new environment for storytelling. And it's going to be a stunning-looking book!"

The first pages are interesting - like the artwork. I hope it's genuinely Blade Runner-related (steeped in that world) and not just using another project with a tacked-on umbrella title.

@BillyBatson1000 - same. Looks great (I like the x-ray shot). But so does everything Blade Runner. Cyberpunk just always looks cool.

Guess the presence of replicants is what's making this Blade Runner. Think they'll have a story to tell with that, because Blade Runner isn't really a bankable title.

@bkmeijer1 - Yes, it's not exactly a blue-chip franchise - critically praised but financially: no legs. And the writers will probably have a bible of untouchable characters, Deckard etc, so it's replicants all the way.

Rough artwork, in my opinion. I was in Tokyo a few weeks ago (first time), and it was remarkable how much i felt when walking in the Shinjuku sector that I felt like i was in Los Angeles, 2019. And I kept hearing a voice in my head, "ah, you bwade wunner."

@GeneralZod - Re: art. It starts off clean (at the top) and gradually gets poorer as it goes on.

@BillyBatson1000 - The cover reminds me of Paul Smith, my favorite artist of the 80s. Very clean and linear.

@GeneralZod - Yes, the stuff he did for Nexus and American Flagg comes to mind.
