My thoughts right now, from the little bit of news we have had on the upcoming DareDevil remake is well... positive. I use to have a couple of DareDevil comics but I was younger at the time and you might as well say, obsessed with a particular superhero when a movie for them came out, and DD was one of them.
Now, I've been reading alot of people's thoughts on the remake and I'm quite disappointed. Alot of people don't seem to like David Slade (one of my favorite directors and inspirations) just because he directed a Twilight film. So what! I feel that David Slade is for DareDevil, what the wildly popular Christopher Nolan is for Batman. David Slade has that dark, gritty style that can fit DareDevil. Alot of credit goes to the writer(s) of the film but still, in alot of ways, with help of the script of course, the camera when filming, tells a story of it's own. My thoughts on them using the Born Again storyline, to me is way to early. Like alot of people, I feel it should've been saved for the finale of a trilogy. I don't know alot about the character and alot of who all are his villains but for the research I did, I would really like to see Mister Fear be a villain in a second movie or something. I think it would be, in alot of ways, an interesting villain to see DareDevil face.
I really didn't know at first who a GOOD choice to play Matt Murdock/DareDevil would be, but after some thought and looking actors up, I came to conclusion that Chris Pine would, in my opinion, be the best choice for the role. To me, he has the hero factor but at the same time, he has the vulnerability to play Matt Murdock. Do I think DareDevil needs to be R rated? Answer: No. Kids should be able to see it, but it should be a hard PG-13, really pushing the ratings limits. I mean, especially if your going to base the movie off of a really dark, mature comic storyline like, Born Again. I would like to see the movie come out by 2014, early 2015 at the latest. The Man Without Fear isn't Blade or The Punisher, so therefore, doesn't need to be over the top violence and have alot of cussing and blood. They need to focus on a strong story, with strong characters and tell the best possible story.
Final Thoughts: The new DareDevil looks and sounds to have ALOT of potential, they have a strong director and from my understanding, a strong writer. If done right, this has potential to be Marvel and 20th Century Fox's answer to Warner Bros. remake of Batman.
