DEADPOOL 2 Concept Art Shows Tim Miller's Badass Version Of Cable, Future Weaponry And All

In another batch of Deadpool 2 concept art, we see some alternate designs for Cable which are not only a little more comic accurate but also incorporate some very cool looking futuristic weaponry...

Deadpool was an unexpected box office hit back in 2016 and so it came as no great surprise when director Tim Miller was asked to return as the sequel's director. Unfortunately, he butted heads with star Ryan Reynolds (seemingly because he wanted to make the follow-up as grounded as the first instalment) and ended up leaving the project, with John Wick's David Leitch replacing him shortly after.

Now, some more concept art from Tim Miller's Deadpool 2 has been revealed and this batch puts the spotlight firmly on Cable. As you can see, he doesn't look massively different to the version played by Josh Brolin but it does appear as if there are at least a few more comic book inspirations, including the fact that the time-travelling mutant is wielding a massive gun which looks seriously over the top.

What do you think of this take on Cable? Share your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

Brolin sure looked plenty enough awesome. Nothing to complain about.

Interesting, looks like they were aiming for Liam Nelson as Cable

@Ha1frican - I had the same thought. He would've done well with the role.

I like the short white hair better than Brolin’s long dark gray with shaved sides.

I have a feeling Miller’s Terminator movie is going to be panned, and people will rethink thinking he was what made Deadpool great over Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick.

@ELAYEM -

Yeesh. You sound like you have a personal stake in it panning. Look, Miller was certainly part of the success of the film. You can't extract him like he did nothing or didn't add to the equation. That's as ridiculous as a director taking all the credit for a successful film. It's a team effort.

Deadpool 2 was decent, but it didn't rise above the first. They've got the same critical rating although 2 rightfully has a lower user score. It certainly wasn't as funny or groundbreaking and you hope that a sequel brings something more to the table rather than recycle the same jokes or give us substandard ones.

I also think using the death of his girlfriend/cables wife as a motivation was a poor decision. Especially since it made Cable seem like a selfish idiot. Using a time machine just to bring back a dead wife is such a wasted opportunity. Especially since his future was trash. No need to fix that I guess, just my wife and kid.

Saying "lazy writing" in the first one was funny because of the sarcasm and irony, saying it again in the second was just honest because it was and it did nothing to build up the franchise.

@Humperdink - Woah woah, dont get me wrong, I hope Miller’s Terminator is fantastic.
I’d love to love a new Terminator movie, and I loved Miller’s Deadpool 1.

It’s just a bad feeling that Miller’s Terminator will be poorly received, and if that’s the case I think people will realize the majority of Deadpool’s charm is Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick.

@Humperdink - "critical rating although 2 rightfully has a lower user score"

Deadpool 2 has an audience score of 86 and 8 of 10 on imbd.

@Humperdink - And i disagree with some of these critisims.

"I also think using the death of his girlfriend/cables wife as a motivation was a poor decision."

Oh wanting to save your wife and little girl is so selfish, what a terrible guy /s And did you miss the part where he said he did want to save the future at the end?

And it's a little harder saving the entire future over 2 people. could take decades actually, and you might erase himself from existence.

"saying it again in the second was just honest because it was and it did nothing to build up the franchise. "

Apart from introducing cable? domino? firefist? Juggernaut? and hinting to the essex corporation and possibly the afterlife?

I could understand disliking deadpool 2 but these are the wrong criticisms in my opinion. The humor was not that funny for instance.

But if anything it set up too much. It's gonna bought over anyway.

I actually really enjoyed this film. Not as good as the first but had a lot of heart.

Not all the jokes land though.

I know what you're doing -same old shit- but i still loved the movie, fam.
This ain't gonna change that.

Oh and just like @BlindWedjat said in the other thread, that was NOT a comicbook accurate Domino, so...you can stop implying shit. :P

Probably would have been a better movie. P.S. Deadpool 2 was great... But it probably would have been a better movie.

Makes me wonder who was he considering for the role.
Anyway, I love the Cable that we got. The whole crew is [frick]ing perfect.

@Pantherpool - After seeing Jon Hamm in Baby Driver, I think he would have done a great job playing Cable.

@Pantherpool - As another user stated higher up, based on this concept art, it looks like they were going for a Liam Neeson-type actor.

We all know guys like Brad Pitt and Russell Crowe were rumored, but I think Neeson would've done well.

@Repian - I'd prefer him as Two-Face in a future BATMAN flick. He would've been decent in the role, but I think Brolin knocked it out of the park in the role and was absolutely BADASS!

I liked deadpool 2 and thought it had some hilarious parts (shirt cockin it) but it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. Seems like they tried a little too hard for current references. I am really liking these concepts from the tim miller version. The art is better than what we ended up getting

The concept drawings look awesome and a lot more comic-accurate ...especially Juggernaut. They always b!t@h out at the last minute and go with a more "movie-friendly" look, most of the time the concepts are way better.

@emeraldtaurus - that Juggernaut was fat though

I like both Deadpool 1 and Deadpool 2 equally I am not sure if Tim Miller would have given the sequel that extra point to make it better than DP1

But end of the day I like both movies equally.

P.S

I am glad that Tim Miller didn't see eye to eye with Reynolds for Deadpool 2 that way Tim Miller got to do the new Terminator movie and let me tell you I am [frick]ing excited for this one,Tim Miller can handle action and visuals and James Cameron backing this movie along with Linda Hamilton returning as Sarah Connor??

I enjoyed his role as Cable. Since Robocop isn’t a franchise that will last 10 years, I wouldn’t mind seeing Brolin as the lead role in a Robocop reboot
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 8/17/2018, 6:32 AM
My only real gripe with DP2 was that it seemed Cable was only from about 50 years in the future.
L0RDbuckethead
L0RDbuckethead - 8/17/2018, 9:51 AM
@Ryguy88 - It may have not even been THAT far in the future. I think he was supposed to be from the same timeline as the opening scene to X-Men: DOFP, which is set in 2023.

So I'd say it's less than 50 years in the future if that is true.
