DEADPOOL 2 Rockets To A $125 Million+ Domestic Opening Weekend; Record-Breaking $301 Million Worldwide

20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2 has gotten off to a strong start domestically, bringing in over $125 million in its first frame in the United States, which is the second-biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated film behind only Deadpool's $132.4 million opening weekend back in 2016, although it should be noted that the original was boosted by the combination of a Valentine's Day and Presidents Day holiday weekend. It also now holds the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated comedy sequel.

Internationally, Deadpool 2 has earned over $176.3 million and is now Fox's biggest international opener of all-time, topping X-Men: Days of Future Past ($174M), and is also the biggest R-rated foreign opener of all-time overall, topping Logan ($160M). Worldwide, the film has already collected well over $301 million - without China, which is incredibly impressive on its relatively modest $110 million production budget.

After a three-week run at the top of the world, Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has fallen to the #2 spot with $28.7 million, bringing its total domestic haul to $595 million, which is currently the eighth-best total ever. Internationally, the Russo Brothers-directed blockbuster has collected over $1.218 billion, including a jaw-dropping 302.5 million from China alone. Overall, the Marvel juggernaut has taken in over $1.814 billion worldwide, making it the fourth-highest grossing film of all-time.

Paramount's A Quiet Place continues to impress with $4 million in its seventh week and opened to $17.7 million in China over the past weekend. With over $296.4 million worldwide ($176.2M domestic, $120.3M foreign), the John Krasinski-directed horror feature has now surpassed the domestic and worldwide totals of Jordan Peele's Get Out.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Black Panther, which arrived on Blu-ray last week, has finally bowed out of the Top 10 after a spectacular fourteen-week run. Its worldwide cume stands at $1.3 billion ($697.7M domestic; $645.8M foreign).

So, what do you guys think? What did you see this weekend? Sound off with your thoughts below!

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. @XMENisbetter - He mentioned Infinity War which is featured in the article. You know what's random? The saltiness you lot bring with anything MCU. They're successful, get over it.

Ok, so Deadpool 2 is good; its really funny, the action is mostly great buuut....The were things about Cable and the surprise character that just didnt fit right with me. Both were characterized pretty muh perfectly and were fun to watch on screen but they were both nerfed and Cable's origin was left a little ambiguous, but what you do get doesnt quite line up with his comic book origin and it sounds like they are just doing away with that aspect of the character anyways in favour of just having him be around in the present day for X-force. Also, you never get to see that surprise character in his full get-up, which disappointed me.

Overall, I feel like this movie needed a bigger budget to make some CGI look better and to spuce up that final fight. It was great seeing Cable and that surprise character but I cant help but wonder how much better they could have been if they werent introduced in such a silly movie. Im complaining alot but overall I did like the movie. Hoping X-Force can resolve some of these issues though.
