Marvel Studios released a red band trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine last night during the Super Bowl, and while it didn't exactly go overboard with the R-rated content, it certainly contained a few firsts for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Now, a green band version of the teaser has been shared online. It doesn't feature any brand-new scenes, but it does include some alternate dialogue.

The PG-13 changes include the Merc With a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) ditching the "pegging" line in favor of, "The R-Rating isn't new for me, friendo, but it is for Disney," and saying "OMG" instead of "oh f*ck." The blood and overall violence has also been toned down, although Wade still gets trigger-happy on those unfortunate TVA agents.

Check out the trailer below, along with the red band version just in case you missed it or fancy another watch.

The trailer includes a few cameo teases (as well as a surprise appearance from Pyro), but several other X-Men characters (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey among them), and possibly even Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch as different Variants of Gambit are also rumored.

The one major return that had been confirmed by the trades is Jennifer Garner as Elektra, but the Alias alum declined to confirm anything in a recent interview.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

A recent synopsis for the movie reads: "After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis, Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement," the synopsis continues. "He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

Shawn Levy directs DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE opens in U.S. & Canadian movie theaters on July 26, and will be available in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens everywhere.

July seems a longtime to wait… at 1:45 in initially I thought that was Doom…

I think it would be very smart for Disney to run a R and PG-13 cut at the same time. I'm sure there are a few moments here and there that could just be light reshoots or adr to get it to borderline R/PG-13. We'll see though. If they were smart I would have included p-13 alternate scenes while doing initial principal photography.

@quas95 - I agree. A PG-13 cut and R-Rated cut would be hilarious:

Deadpool & Wolverine (R)
Deadpool & Wolverine For Families (PG-13)

@SonOfAGif - that would be awesome

@quas95 - depends where you live. The first two movies were PG-13 here in Montreal.

@quas95 @SonOfAGif @HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah I totally agree and I think that if they were to follow the same pattern as they did with "DP2" and release the R-rated version first in the summer then spend the next couple of months doing the PG-13 one for release during the holidays, they could follow the same theme as "Once Upon..." where DP tracked Fred Savage down, only this time it's the cast from "The Neverending Story" in keeping with the 80's children books theme. Last I checked the dude who played Bastion in that movie is now like an Amish guy living in a cabin in the woods, so there's a lot of fun to be had there. And even though the guy's retired from acting, I'll bet he'd like a nice shiny new weaving loom and solid gold potbelly stove just for letting DP duct tape him to his bed and read him his (PG-13) version of "DP&W".

Plus, as far as converting the R-rated version to PG-13, for the parts that he's in costume you'd only need Ryan to rerecord his lines, so there you go. Make it happen Marvel!

So does the TVA guy understand what "Marvel" and "Fox" are? Or is he as oblivious as any other character to what Deadpool is referring to?
Evansly
Evansly - 2/12/2024, 6:20 PM
@Fares - I assume 1 of two things is happening here.

1. Deadpool is just making a completely random comment that they don't understand and probably ignore because he is Deadpool. Super on brand

2. It is exclusive to the trailer and the movie will have completely different dialog for the scene
StSteven
StSteven - 2/12/2024, 11:04 PM
@Evansly - Or 3. The TVA exists outside of the different cinematic universes and is aware that the Fox-verse is shutting down and is then tasking DP with saving as many characters as he can from that universe and bringing them over to the MCU. Or something like that. Hell any of the above are equally as likely at this point.

Doesn't feel like there will be as many cameos as you think

Also I think Beyonder being covered on that Secret Wars #5 comic is no coincidence. He's out, Doom is in. I do hope they do recast with Colman Domingo or bring in Chukwudi to finish Kang's story though.

We're getting Dogpool. Why not go for broke and add a Red Stool cameo? Disney owns Family Guy now.
