The nominations for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning in Beverly Hills, California, and one of the year's most successful comic book movies, Deadpool, was selected for award consideration in two different categories.
Star Ryan Reynolds was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while the movie as a whole received a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Reynolds accepted the nominations on Twitter in his usual hilarious fashion. "Thank you, Golden Globes! As we speak, the entire Deadpool team is engaged in a grotesque, early morning tickle-fight."
Last night's Critics' Choice Awards also saw Reynolds take home the Best Actor in an Action Movie award, along with a separate Entertainer of the Year award. David Ayer's Suicide Squad also received some recognition, with Margot Robbie winning the Best Actress in an Action Movie award for her portrayal of Harley Quinn.
Comic book films don't often have the best luck during award season (especially with higher-profile shows like the Oscars), so it's definitely great seeing a film like Deadpool - which struggled to even get made - being rewarded for the team's hard work.
