One of Deadpool 2's most shocking moments came when Morena Baccarin's Vanessa Carlysle died. That loss hit Wade Wilson hard, though he'd later use Cable's time-travel device to save the woman he loves (effectively undoing her death and ensuring she's now alive again in his reality).
We still don't know how the Merc with the Mouth will be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, of course, though it would probably be easy enough thanks to the Multiverse and Deadpool's recent tampering with time travel!
Whether any supporting characters from the Fox franchise are coming with him to the MCU remains to be seen. However, during a recent appearance at DragonCon Atlanta, Baccarin remained tight-lipped when it came to her possibly starring in Deadpool 3.
"You know, from your lips to God's ears, I have no idea," she claimed. "They're writing the script right now. I'm usually the last to find out anything. I'm not even...I wish I had information I could give you but I really don't. But it'd be great."
Baccarin would go on to confirm that Vanessa was supposed to stay dead in Deadpool 2 before test screening reactions helped alter her fate. "I think when we shot the second film, I would just die. And then after they screened it a few times they actually changed it to include this timeline thing so I think that's a good sign that the fans want to see her again."
"Whether or not it happens, it's not up to me," the actress concluded.
Marvel Studios may be looking to make a fresh start with Deadpool, so there's a good chance we won't see any other characters from the previous two movies. That would be a waste in some ways as there are more stories to tell with the likes of Cable, Dominio, and even Vanessa.
Deadpool 3 doesn't currently have a release date, though we are hoping for news at D23 this month!
