DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Discusses Depicting Domino's Potentially Problematic Power-Set On Screen

How do you convey/visualize a character's special ability on screen when her power is, basically, being extremely lucky? David Leitch promises that they've got some "great stuff" lined up for Domino.,..

Ever since it was announced that 20th century Fox's Deadpool sequel would introduce Domino (Zazie Beetz), fans wondered if the badass mutant's comic book power would remain intact, or some alterations would be made to better suit a big-screen incarnation of the character.

Well, it sounds like Domino's ability to alter probability fields will indeed be present - even if actually depicting it onscreen turns out to be a little tricky.

During an interview with ScreenRant, director David Leitch was asked about Domino, and although he wouldn't go into specifics, he did promise that they've come up with a cool way to visually demonstrate her "super-luck":

“We’re excited to play with that idea in choreography. I’m not going to give you how it’s all going to play out. As a choreographer, having a character with her abilities is really a trick. I think at first it seems like a problem. Like oh my god, how dod you demonstrate luck? And then you just see it like, oh, this is the coolest opportunity ever, so we’re really excited and we’re creating really great stuff for her character.”

Leitch also addressed the notoriously convoluted origins of Cable (Josh Brolin), reaffirming that they are going to be making some pretty big changes when it comes to the fan-favorite character. "We’ve been really particular what we’re going to put in and what we’re going to leave for potential future if it goes that way," he said, before promising that everything is still "all in the spirit of canon."

What do you guys make of Leitch's comments? Are you exited to see Cable and Domino introduced in Deadpool 2? Sound off below.

Can't wait to see Zazie take on this role. She was great in Atlanta - if you haven't watched it yet, please check it out. It's on FX.

@L0RDbuckethead - If you haven't checked it out, I'd also recommend Snowfall.

@L0RDbuckethead - You don't need to look any further than the pink Panther movies and inspector Clouseau if you want to see "dumb" luck in his case. In dominoes case you just do the same thing with different props etc.

@Asturgis - I watched the pilot but haven't had time to watch the ones that have aired since. I liked the first ep, so I'll definitely catch up.

@SpideyQuad - Idk that just seems a bit too cheesy. It'll be hard to portray her luck properly, that's for sure.

I like how they say they will leave cable's past to be explored later if they can't fit it, instead of just condensing it into something more digestible for the general audience.

reveal it slowly, that way it will have more time to sink in and make sense.

@ALostCause -

Eh, personally that concerns me. It's kind of like the sequel trilogy for Star Wars approach; "lets not develop the backstory of a character as we can cover that later".

I understand not fully filling in Cable's backstory, but a few lines having Deadpool compare him to Terminator would be enough. Could be a running joke with Deadpool throwing up potential future scenarios, maybe throw in a jab at Days Of Future Past or Logan.

Please give her the comicbook look. Don't start with the racism BS. It's okay to paint a black woman's face with white paint. It's for a [frick]ing movie.

@BaronZemo - What if I told you that she may have been selected because she was the best actress for the role who auditoned regardless of race? Because of America's history of racist imagery and the political climate today, I think their smart to shy away from the white paint in this case due to everyone's temperant being high, and when I say "everyone", I mean white, black, Latino, etc.
