Yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, Fox dropped
a teaser for Deadpool 2, now officially
referred to as The Untitled Deadpool Sequel. While fans have come to expect this sort of zany marketing approach for the Merc with the Mouth, it nonetheless continues to surprise and impress just about everyone - even the stars of the movie.
Following the release of the teaser, Comicbook.com asked Stefan Kapicic, who stars as Colossus in the film, his thoughts on it.
"This is one of the funniest mornings I've had in a long time," Kapicic said.
"Waking up with that 'Bob Deadpool Ross' teaser trailer got me WADE awake!"
Kapicic is, of course, referring to the fact that the majority of the teaser is Wade Wilson/Deadpool doing his best Bob Ross impersonation. Under normal circumstances, fans would be upset with the fact that only about 10 seconds of a 2-plus minute trailer were dedicated to actual movie footage. Deadpool is anything but normal though, and fans were just as excited to see Wade painting happy trees and "whacking" off.
Kapicic continued,
"The brilliance of Ryan Reynolds and the Fox marketing that we had for the first movie continues in the same unique way, which makes all of us who are a part of the franchise so proud and hype. There is so much more brilliance that is soon to unravel. That glimpse of Deadpool 2 in there is so powerful and action-filled, people should get ready to be geeked out!"
In case you haven't yet seen it, check out the teaser below:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
The Untitled Deadpool Sequel hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
