HitFix talked to Ryan Reynolds this weekend and asked about the upcoming "Wolverine" spin-off, Deadpool. He says he's "intimately involved" with the project:

We're just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it's going to be just like the comic books. I'm gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that's the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible.

Still no news on the release date of the movie.

I dunno joshw24, he seemed upset in interviews about how they screwed up the character in the wolverine movie maybe they'll get it right this time.

joshw24: have you actually read DP's origins? I think if half the people who bitch about what was done to him in XO:W had read his origins, they'd be more pissed about how Silverfox was raped all to hell. Yeah DP was sorely mistreated but at least there were resemblances to his origin. Silverfox got the worst treatment as far as altering a character by far in that movie, no contest. They basically just created a new character and slapped a familiar name on it. I dunno just thought I'd point that out since people seem so concerned with this still lol.

Myth...don't don't you mean they should be upset on how Silverfox wasn't raped.

But if you have read Deadpool and Death Anual 1998 it reveals his origins. Basically he was living with Vannessa aka Copycat until he found out he had cancer. He left her so she would not face the burden of a cancer striken man. He goes to Weapon X and operates for them as a merc until something goes wrong.

He is then "kicked out of hero school" he is sent to Doctor Killebrew's "Workshop" at Hospice, a place for failed experiments. He was tortured and experimented upon among other washouts. In the Workshop, he became part of a game called "the Dead Pool", where inmates bet on which one of them will die next. As Wade had been chosen as a special project by Dr. Killebrew, his odds of dying were very low, making him the leader of the Dead Pool with over one thousand-to-one odds. During near-fatal experiments, Wade started to see visions of Death and fell in love with her, she became infatuated with him, for he was theonly mortal to see her ahead of death. He decided to break the Dead Pool by doing anything to get himself killed so he could be with Death, attempts which were repeatedly thwarted by his rival and Killebrew's enforcer,The Attending, who later would become Ajax.

His behavior inspired the other inmates to rebel. Killebrew ordered his death. It is this attempted execution that finally activates Deadpool's failed healing factor keeping him from dying, much to the chagrin of himself and Death. The regenerative process heightens his disfigurement, so he finally snapped completely. Because of the healing factor's prevention of his death was brought on by his desire to live to seek vengance on the Attending, Death rejected him. He managed to escape, killing The Attending and freeing many other Workshop experiments, taking on the name "Deadpool" and returned to mercenary work.

THEHAWK: TY for the synopsis, I didn't have the energy to type all that lol. I'm sure you can see the similarities, albeit slim ones, between his true origin and that of the movie. Lemme ask you this, do you feel like Silverfox received the biggest '[frick] you" from Fox?

oooh oooh oooh (raises hand) can I take that one Myth? U BET YOUR ASS SHE GOT BIGGEST [frick] YOU FROM FOX!! I saw this movie knowing fox took a lot of liberties and was a lil pissed about her powers, but EmmaFrost being her sister really took me outta the movie for a while. And I'd say Emma got raped almost as bad as Silverfox!

TheMyth: I know there were a fair few similarities to DP's origins in Wolverine but he wasnt handled well at all-it would have been better just to have Wade Wilson rather than the whole Weapon XI crap with the stupid looking lines on him and what with him being beheaded and all, its gonna take a lot for them to put that right and make it faithful to the comics at the same time!

Hey josh that whole thing with him being beheaded was fixed atfter the credits with him picking up his head. Also the whole beheading is part of the comics. And since he dies so many times its what makes him crazy and have split person alitties.
