After the surprise success of Deadpool earlier this year, it's fair to say that the sequel is one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies coming our way over the next few years. While Fox has scheduled a number of upcoming Marvel adaptations, a specific date has not yet been given to the follow-up, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Reynolds offered up an update of sorts.
"We’re just in the development stage but we’re about to move into production," he revealed before confirming that they're currently casting Cable and are "looking at" adding fan-favourite Domino.
After praising Deadpool director Tim Miller's hard work on the first movie, Reynolds went on to explain by John Wick's David Leitch was ultimately the right man to take over the job. "Everybody was just a fan of his work. He’s just a guy who’s so muscular with his action. He also really understands those Deadpool sensibilities and where we need to take the franchise from here. And I love John Wick. One of the things that David Leitch does that very few filmmakers can do these days is they can make a movie on an ultra tight minimal budget look like it was shot for 10 - 15 times what it cost."
Are you guys still looking forward to the Deadpool sequel? Who do you think should play Cable? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on that and the comments above in the usual place.
