Deadpool has exceeded expectations at the box office and was well received by fans and critics alike, so the Merc with the Mouth's future is looking very bright indeed. However, could that include a trip to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? During an appearance at a press day to promote Deadpool's release on DVD and Blu-ray, Superhero Hype reports that director Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg teased the possibility of Wade Wilson getting to meet Spider-Man. "Simon and I have been trying to build bridges," Miller teased before the producer added: "I would love to see it. Both of us are close with [Marvel’s] Kevin [Feige], we respect and love Kevin. If it were even remotely possible, we will find a way ’cause we’d would love to see it."
Just because they want that to happen doesn't mean Fox would go for it of course, though the relationship between them and Marvel does seem to have improved in recent years. However, Kinberg was quick to add that, "I just don’t know if it would be possible."
Miller is definitely enthusiastic about the idea of mashing up these franchises though, and with Kinberg recently stating in another interview that he's open to an Avengers/X-Men crossover, Phase 4 could end up heading in a surprising direction! "My favorite comic books in the old days used to be like DC vs. Marvel, Teen Titans vs. the X-Men or Teen Titans vs. New Mutants," Miller added. "Justice League vs. the Avengers. This could be something like that." Time will tell, but you can't deny that would be pretty awesome. Would you be interested in a Spider-Man and Deadpool team-up?
