With a release date that's scheduled just over a year from now, the long-awaited Deadpool movie is currently searching for its leading lady while also gearing up to quickly start principal photography sometime next month. However, when the cameras do start rolling in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, don't expect the Fox/Marvel production to use the same title that fans of the Merc With A Mouth could easily recognize. Instead, Deadpool will be using Wham! as its working title, which Production Weekly has confirmed. These production titles are usually subtle references to certain elements in the movies, and Deadpool, or rather Wham!, is no exception. In the original screenplay, penned by Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, there was a scene that intended to poke fun at Deadpool's disgraceful portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wade Wilson's voice is heard saying "A little piece of me curled up and died the day this came out," amid a close-up shot of a Deadpool action figure with his mouth sewn shut and blades implanted in his wrists. However, the shot later pans out to reveal Wade holding a Music From the Edge of Heaven LP record by British pop duo Wham!. About that scene, co-writer Rhett Reese said during a previous interview that Deadpool was a big Wham! fan, "but their late album turned out really poorly; So that's kind of the joke." A joke that seemingly inspired the movie's working title. Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool will see Ryan Reynolds return as Wade Wilson February 12, 2016. What do you think?
