EDITORIAL: Why Deathlok Could Possibly Be Marvel's Next Big Project In The MCU

Thanks to the success of Marvel's ever-expanding universe, the studio has not hesitated yet on bringing together all aspects of the superhero world to their fans. Hit the jump to see my opinion on why the cyborg demolisher may potentially be next on the list.

The MCU really has evolved into a massive movie reality, and what better to initiate the darker part of the universe than introducing the cybernetic savior Deathlok. The character is essentially a dead guy who is changed into a powerhouse cyborg thanks to the Roxxon oil company's experimental project. He becomes a military hero in his own right, while also trying to maintain his humanity. Here I have made a list on why Deathlok could eventually make his MCU debut:

1)Marvel owns the guy's rights (obviously, but I just don't want to hear any arguments on whose got him).

2)The Roxxon oil company has already been referenced in previous films, such as in Iron Man, Iron Man 3, and Marvel One-Shot: A Funny Thing...Thor's Hammer. Whether they were just easter eggs or references to the character, they have proven that Marvel knows what to add to their broad universe.

3)With Marvel's Agents of Shield focusing on the humane characteristics of the universe, Deathlok could also be a good candidate in being featured in the series. Heck, the character has already previously helped SHIELD in the comics, so why not in the live-action show?

4)It would be a good way to provide the MCU with a robotic character, an interesting new aspect to bring to the mainstream franchise.

Whether this happens or not, I hoped you enjoyed reading my opinions on why Deathlok should be introduced in the MCU continuity.

Well with Stark's Armour technology, extremis and The Winter Soldier with his bionic arm then there doesn't seem any reason why a cyborg couldn't show up.

The fact that he is dead also gives him a bit of a robocop vibe do him with past memories, etc.

Don't know enought about him to see how he would be connected with what is going on so far however.

I'd love to see Deathlok in the MCU! These are good reasons for it, too.

Congratulations on your first article.

This is actually a really good idea. If he doesn't get his own film, he should at least be part of a story arc of Agents of SHIELD. A Deathlok movie could be a great way to start the Marvel Knights part of the MCU. And if it can pave the way for Marvel Studios Punisher, Daredevil, and Ghost Rider films, then bring it on!

I think Deathlok should be introduced as a villain in a War Machine movie first, then branch out to become a hero later.

This could be tied into Rhodeys accident where he becomes part machine in the comics and then you would have an interesting parallel between the two

Pretty good reasons for Deathlok to get in the game, but next time you might want to put a little more thought into said reasons and expand upon them, just a titch.

When Deathlok first hit the scene, his back story was pretty deep, so I'm thinking the best way to introduce him would be in someone else's solo movie (like TheLokey1 suggested), and if fan and moviegoer reactions warrant it, give him his own flick.

There are more important characters Marvel should concentrate on, but Deathlok is very intriguing, so I'd be up for it.

If they want a robot character put Vision or Ultron in the movie. There's no good reason for him to be in the MCU.
