Deathstroke is getting his own animated series on CW Seed.

The network made the announcement today during Upfronts, although President Mark Pedowitz didn't go into too much detail about what's in store for the popular DC Comics mercenary's continuing adventures on the small screen. We do know that the series will "follow Slade as his family is threatened by the murderous villain Jackal and terrorist organization HIVE."

If the show sticks to the same format as previous Vixen and The Ray animated series, Arrow's Manu Bennett will likely reprise the role of Slade Wilson - although that's purely speculation at this point.

A new live-action version of Deathstroke is also set to be introduced during season 2 of DC Universe's Titans. That take on the character will be played by Esai Morales.

Sorta disappointed this isn't live action. Because I'd much rather have a Deathstroke series than a Batwoman series.

I guess if this does well they could launch a Deathstroke show in a few years.

@Nightwing1015 - Batwoman is to draw the LGBTQ community. I am sure a lot of lesbians will give it a go.

@blitzkreg - if they wanted a lesbian superhero show set in gotham they should've just made a mother panic show. She's a similar (but better) character with a more interesting story and side characters

I am not against this but WB should focus on raising Deathrstroke's public profile before an animated series...or maybe I am wrong and that is the whole point of the animated series!

I feel like DC has been doing that constantly since 2012:

2012 - Arrow
2013 - Arkham Origins
2014 - Deathstroke comic series
2017 - Justice League
2019 - Titans

So I guess we can write off that Joe Manganiello DCEU movie then... :(

Come on DC you have so many other cool characters with breakout potential and you choose a bad guy with a ton of TV history. A Booster Gold animated series would be amazing for example
