PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Will Also Receive A 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release

Well, it looks like DIsney is fully embracing the 4K Ultra HD format as they announced late last night that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will also arrive on the premium format.

While Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales won't reach the heights of the previous three films in the franchise, the Johnny Depp-starrer has still managed to gross over $735.3 million at the worldwide box office on a $230 million production budget (without P&A), which could be just enough to warrant a sequel, although that's anything but a guarantee at this point.

Late last night, Walt Disney Home Entertainment officially announced that the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, making it the second film this week, after Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, the studio has announced for the premium format. Captain Jack Sparrow's latest adventure will arrive first on Digital HD on September 19 before making its way to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 3.

This was so disappointing. I loved the trailers and thought it looked really good. But it was awful. Not as bad as Stranger Tides but still.

Imagine the classic that the first film would now be regarded as if it weren't drudged down by a bunch of shitty sequels made for paychecks. It'll make you sad.....
