While we only have the most fleeting glimpse of Gal Gadot's Evil Queen, a new Mattel doll has revealed perhaps our best look yet at the costume Rachel Zegler will wear as Snow White's title character...

There was a period earlier this summer that saw Snow White dominate headlines for all the wrong reasons. The fuss surrounding Disney's plans for its live-action retelling of the classic tale has died down lately, though, something we're sure Disney is grateful for after its plans for the movie started coming under attack.

Now, thanks to SFFGazette.com, a first look at upcoming Mattel merchandise reveals the costume Rachel Zegler's Disney Princess will wear on screen.

It's definitely accurate to the 1973 cartoon, but that doesn't exactly come as a surprise after it Zegler was previously spotted suited up in set photos. As for Gal Gadot's Evil Queen, we have just a tantalising sneak peek of what she'll look like in the reboot.

We'd expected Disney's live-action Snow White movie to be another potentially very good remake from the studio, but little could any of us have known it would end up being so massively divisive.

From the decision to scrap the Seven Dwarfs to resurfaced comments from lead star Rachel Zegler in which the Shazam! Fury of the Gods star compared Prince Florian to a "stalker," there's not a lot of goodwill for the movie right now.

While there are those who are hating on Snow White very much for the sake of it (and, disgustingly, because Zegler is Latina), it's also easy enough to understand why some fans of the 1937 animated classic aren't looking forward to the reboot.

While the movie is currently scheduled for March 22, 2024, it was recently reported that it will "almost certainly move off that date."

Given the largely negative reaction to this latest take on the iconic fairy tale, there's a good chance Disney is planning reshoots. Either way, the recent news that Dune: Part Two has shifted from November 3 to March 15 could also be a major contributing factor.

Not much has actually been revealed about director Marc Webb's (The Amazing Spider-ManSnow White plans, though we know the screenplay was written by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and playwright Erin Cressida Wilson.

In terms of cast, the movie stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan. We're not expecting an overly faithful adaptation of the cartoon, hence why many familiar names are missing from that list.

Wonder what old Walt would say about the changes they're doing in this new version.
