DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Artist Confirms The Living Tribunal & Multiversal Location With Ties To The X-Men

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness VFX artist Alexis Wajsbrot has confirmed the names of two of the locations Strange and America Chávez visit while they tumble through the Multiverse...

Although Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange sequel wasn't quite the mind-bending trip through the Multiverse most fans expected, we did get to visit several alternate realities - even if most of them were only briefly glimpsed while the Master of the Mystic Arts (Benedict Cumberbatch) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) were tumbling through various locations on their way to Earth-838.

There's been speculation that some of these realities may have been established locations from the Marvel Comics, and one of the VFX artists who worked on the movie has now confirmed as much during an interview with Variety.

According to Alexis Wajsbrot, that lush green world populated by dinosaurs was indeed a version of The Savage Land, and the strange entity glimpsed in fiery, Aztec-like surroundings was The Living Tribunal!

"One was an Incan statue world, which ended up in the movie because Kevin Feige thought, ‘Well, that could be a great world to put the Living Tribunal in.’ So that world became the Living Tribunal world," the artist explains. "We proposed a jungle, and Kevin Feige said, ‘Well, it could be cool if it was Savage World.’ It’s a world that exists in the Marvel Universe, so we had to add dinosaurs. We had to model and texture and render and animate dinosaurs for two seconds, which is extremely not cost-efficient.”

These Easter Eggs don't necessarily mean we'll see the Living Tribunal or the Savage Land in the MCU again, of course, but Feige is clearly keen to let fans know that anything is possible in the Multiverse moving forward. This "Savage World," in particular, opens the door to the likes of Sauron, Ka-Zar and Shanna the She-Devil, and could even be utilized for the eventual introduction of The X-Men.

I would like to see The Living Tribunal as a rotating head and each face has a different voice. Between all of them they reach a verdict.

Wherever they are, Wanda stands trial for her crimes against the Multiverse.

They've been name dropping the living Tribunal since the first Dr Strange, so hopefully by part 3 they really drive home hoe important they are, especially if Strange ends up going into some troubling territory

The more I think about MOM, the more I think this movie is going to be a real inflection point for serious shit down the line in the MCU

Also, it really just fully hit me today that Feige doesn't have any qualms with just throwing the X-MEN and F4 properties at the screen with no grandiosity beyond what they naturally generate. Bodes well for them hopefully starting to just bring them into the upcoming stories as seamlessly as they've done with everything else

@OmegaDaGrodd - And with phase 4 being the way that it is, I feel as though the introduction of the X-Men and mutants in general isn't going to be as complicated as we think.

Nowhere did the artist say this is leading toward or connecting to the x men. Clickbait title.

@Origame - Savage Land.

@Fogs - yeah, and any connection to the x men here wasn't even stated by the guy. Just confirming that was meant to be the savage land.

I still think this movie is underrated and didn’t deserve the hate it got just because of some cameos. It was Strange’s and Wanda’s story, but the multiverse of cameos lol

Hopefully in a few years people will see it for what it is.

@MisterDoctor217 - I didn’t like Wanda was main villian that’s my reason

@MisterDoctor217 - yeah, but it's also hard to ignore how Disney put that on themselves. They advertise this heavily with the multiverse component of the story taking the forefront, Wanda barely shown, and plenty of teasing those cameo appearances. Not to mention no way home setting the standard for what to expect from a multiverse movie. I do hope this movie starts getting recognized for what it actually did as opposed to hate from what it didn't have, but there are plenty of good reasons why people were disappointed.

@MisterDoctor217 - I have zero problems with cameos, in fact hoped we'd have way more tbh.

What I don't like is how they're hyping the Illuminati as if they had any extra importance and weren't dying on spot. Cheap act imo.

@Origame -
Yeah it was the marketing to some extent but I think also the leaks made the movie out to be like No Way Home 2.0 or something , which it wasn’t.

@MisterDoctor217 - it was definitely a combination.

I feel the longer it takes to acknowledge mutants in the MCU, the harder it’ll be. The MCU dates back to at least Hank Pym in the 50’s and not so much as a mention of a mutant gene been referenced. I understand that Marvel just got the rights back but they’re in a tough position to bring in such a rich history into an already established setting. Good luck Marvel.

Pretty sure the futuristic dimension was 2099.

This Easter Egg seems kinda pointless to me. If you want a world that's a jungle, go ahead and do that, but without the Savage Land's specific context within the main universe, it's just meaningless as a jungle.

I'm convinced the Xmen we get will just be set on a different earth. No reason for them to be tied to the main MCU right now especially if they're building up for Secret Wars or Xmen v. Avengers
