A rumor did the rounds online earlier today that Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to feature a cameo from a mysterious individual from the now defunct Fox Marvel movie universe, and it looks like the character's identity has now been revealed.
Scooper Daniel Richtman reported on the original rumor, and has now taken to Twitter to call attention to a story from Movie Scope which claims to have discovered who this character is. He doesn't mention the name, but seems pretty certain that they're on the level as he labels the report as a major spoiler.
Warning: This sounds like it might be a major game-changer for this movie and the MCU as a whole, so if you'd rather keep the surprise under wraps for as long as possible (it will probably get out eventually, to be honest), best not click on the link below.
Pretty crazy, eh?
The site doesn't know who'll be playing this character in question, but mentions that they "come from the multiverse and will play a small yet significant role in the film." Of course, there's always a chance the original report was inaccurate, so best not to put too much stock in this rumor until we learn more.
For now, let us know what you make of this down below, and please don't share the name of the character in the comments just in case!
Plot details for Doctor Strange 2 are still under wraps, but the title obviously suggests that the alternate reality-spanning Multiverse will play a big part. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Master of the Mystic Arts, and he'll be joined by Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. New additions include Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
