Best inspiration for the Spawn reboot

Although Spawn was never one of my favorites, I do hold a special place for the character and I feel it's time to bring him back into popularity, eg execs getting off their arses and pushing the reboot forward, and I feel this is the best inspiration for the reboot.

Now although I do not want a Spawn film anywhere nearly as much as I want a amazing Wonder Woman film or an amazing reboot of Green Lantern with Hal Jordan, I do believe this character deserves a very good film treatment.

And why wouldn't he be given one? It seems all developer think about nowadays when developing comic book source material to film is making it "DARK AND GRITTY AND MATURE AND DARK AND GRITTY AND REALISTIC". Spawn is inherently dark as a character, as well as his story and world. His rouges are good, his back story is good, it had mountains of potential.

Though I have much hatred for the 1990's original film, that is neither here nor there. I personally feel the best inspiration for the film would be Todd McFarlane's Spawn, the dark animated series from the late 1990s. If you haven't seen it, I seriously recommend you to. I believe someone edited together all the episodes and split them up into 6 parts on YouTube. Watch them, seriously. So much better than the films.

Anyway, though the series did have some pacing issues, I feel it is the best inspiration. The voice actor, the style, the atmosphere, the way the characters were portrayed, all brilliant and all good inspiration for this film. And Spawn has good rogues as well. For the first film they could do Billy Kincaid, Chapel.

All in all, I feel Spawn is more than worthy of a brilliant film, and his films have A LOT of potential. Anyway, I hope to hell at least some of you are Spawn fans and are willing to share your thoughts, and tits (*I'm glaring at Teabag*)

Spawn animation is the tits. Keith David was awesome for the voice. I think a reboot/ sequel would be the best way of going about things, though, to be honest. Sam and Twitch would be quintessential and they would be a good in for the audience. Mammon and Malebolgia should be the efocus as far as villians go, with Spawn finally killing Malebolgia at the end. The first one kinda went overboard with the Clown/Violator, so this one should probably leave him out, altogether. Also Wanda's pregnancy would be a god sub-plot to set up the sequels.
I don't know why they haven't gotten around to this, yet. It's all down to McFarlane, really. He keeps saying that he's getting together a script for a low-low budget take on Spawn and that it will be dark ad gritty, but he really should take advantage of the cbm golden age that we're having at the moment and get in the act, by going into partnership wit a big studio. Legendary Pictures, maybe?

This definitely needs a reboot film. I say Del Toro to helm the director seat with Henry Simmons for Spawn.

Todds been talking trying for another spawn for years now. He has even gone as far as killing off Al, kind of, and replaced him with a white guy(jim) for a wider appeal. He has changed the art direction to that crappy photo realistic style to appeal to movie exects.

He has been trying to get that movie money so bad that he, imo, ruined the comic. I had been collecting spawn books since #1, and now I had to quit reading (about #210)because I didnt like the new direction. If we see another spawn movie it will look nothing like the old cartoon. Its going to be a crime drama, more like the DK movies.

I would never support the movie they are currently working on now. If they ever did a pure reboot, and start from the beginning, with a tone from the older comics/cartoon, count me in. But not the direction Todd is taking it now. Fortunately i think the 1st movie killed any more movie chances ever.
