I've held onto this project for a while now and have never been fully satisfied. I've jumped from actor to actor, trying to narrow it down to the select few that create a semi-original fan cast. Regardless, I've put a lot of work into it. I'm a fan of criticism, but don't be flat out disrespectful if you disagree with any choices. Please and thanks douchers.
My Daredevil origin story is split 70% adult Murdock and 30% young Murdock. The decent amount of young Murdock is meant to connect the audience to Daredevil. I want them to see the relationship he has with his father and the affect it really does have on his development as Daredevil. The relationship between Matt and Foggy will start within the young confines as well. The villain is Kingpin, obviously, and only Kingpin. He is a criminal mastermind, almost Joker like. Plotting multiple crimes throughout Hell's Kitchen, while Murdock must stop them all. This will develop the monarch of
Daredevil. Creating a rivalry between kingpin and The Daredevil.
Matthew Murdock/The Daredevil- Nikolaj Coster Waldau
I can honestly say I've never seen this gentlemen cast as Murdock and I'm not exactly sure why. His look is perfect and his acting chops suit the role. Nikolaj is more known for his role as Jamie Lannister in "Game Of Thrones", but I still remember him as John Amsterdam on the short lived FOX drama "New Amsterdam". Definitely disappointed that one was cancelled.
Young Matt Murdock- Callan McAuliffe
I've been working on a Spider-man fan cast outside of this one and initially had Callan as Peter Parker. But someone beat me to the punch... sadly. Regardless, I feel like this kid has some versatility. Thus, I choose him for a younger Matt Murdock. And by young, I mean during scenes of his father's death.
Foggy Nelson- Mark Addy
Again, someone I've never seen cast as Foggy and I never understood why. He's worked with Nikolaj before on "Game of Thrones" and he's a fantastic actor. I've always felt that the first Daredevil movie diminished Foggy's role a bit. So, I'd like to change that in this version.
Battlin' Jack Murdock- Joel Edgerton
Edgerton is one of the better up and coming actors in Hollywood. Warrior is by far one of my favorite movies EVER and I love Joel. But I don't like him as any one superhero. I've seen him cast as Batman and Daredevil himself. But he's to versatile, there's that word again, to pick just one superhero to play. He'd be quite the Jack Murdock though. A small yet powerful part.
Stick- Stephen McHattie
I'm a fan of McHattie's and I hate the idea of Stick being a fossil. I didn't put much thought into this role because he was my first and only choice.
Elektra Natchios- Olga Kurylenko
Not the most original pick. But a pick that makes the most sense. She's of the right age, the right look, and the right acting chops. Enough said.
Karen Page- Alice Eve
She is HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT as hell. Not to mention charming. She was my first and only choice for this role.
Wilson Fisk/ The Kingpin- James Gandolfini
Again, it's not the most original choice. But he makes the most sense. I think us comic nerds must come to terms with the fact that there is no 500 lb white sea beast walking around to play Kingpin. Kane has the look, but NO acting ability. I hated Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin and I feel Gandolfini is the best choice.
Vanessa Fisk- Demi Moore
Demi is a tad washed up, but I think this role could give her a little more prominence in the acting world once again.
Richard Fisk- Tom Felton
I never really though ol' Malfoy could pull off an "American" accent. But he sure as hell did so in Rise of The Planet of The Apes. And I loved it. New found respect earned him a spot as another douche bag.
Ben Urich- Hugh Laurie
By far the best choice I've seen for Urich. I could not agree more with anyone else when choosing him.
Smaller Roles:
1.Roscoe Sweeney/The Fixer- Terry O'Quinn
2.Slade "Jack's killer"- Elias Koteas
3.Ambassador Natchios- Hector Elizondo
4.Young Foggy Nelson- Jacob Wysocki
Cameo:
Bullseye has a couple stories to his name. But I'm fond of a particular one. Mainly because of my baseball fandom. I like the idea of, at the end of the film, Foggy sitting in a crowded baseball stadium. Where, within one of Bulleye's origins, Ben "Lester" Poindexter looks to finish his perfect game. But grows bored and nails the batter in the head with a pitch, killing him instantly. While removing his hat to reveal a bullseye logo tattooed on his forehead, snickering and bursting into laughter as Foggy stands and the screen fades to black.
Benjamin "Lester" Poindexter- Joseph Fiennes
The Director- David Fincher
I LOVE his work. The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are amazing and David really brings the realism out in stories. Which is what I want in my Daredevil.
Let me know what you think.
