The Justice League team roster has been rotated throughout the years with characters such as Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna, the Elongated Man, Red Tornado, and dozens of others.
Having successfully reintroduced a number of their Golden Age superhero characters (Flash, Green Lantern, etc.) during the late 1950s, DC Comics asked writer Gardner Fox to reintroduce the Justice Society of America. Fox, influenced by the popularity of the National Football League and Major League Baseball, decided to change the name of the team from Justice Society to Justice League.[1] The Justice League of America debuted in The Brave and the Bold #28 (1960), and quickly became one of the company's best-selling titles. Fox wrote virtually all of the League's adventures during the 1960s, and artist Mike Sekowsky pencilled the first five years.
The initial Justice League lineup included seven of the DC superheroes being published regularly at that time: Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. However, Superman and Batman barely featured in most of the stories, not even appearing on the cover most of the time. Three of DC's other surviving or revived characters (Green Arrow, Atom, and Hawkman) were added to the roster over the next four years, the latter two having been revamped by Gardner Fox himself. JLA's early success was indirectly responsible for the creation of the Fantastic Four. In his autobiography Stan Lee relates how, during a round of golf, DC publisher Jack Liebowitz mentioned to Marvel-Timely owner Martin Goodman how well DC's new book (Justice League) was selling. Later that day Goodman told Lee to come up with a team of superheroes for Marvel; Lee and Jack Kirby produced the Fantastic Four.
The Justice League operated from a secret cave outside of the small town of Happy Harbor, Rhode Island. A teenager named Lucas "Snapper" Carr tagged along on missions, and he became both the team's mascot and an official member. Snapper, noted for speaking in beatnik dialect and snapping his fingers, helped the League to defeat giant space starfish Starro the Conqueror in the team's first appearance. In Justice League of America #77 (December 1969), Snapper was tricked into betraying the cave headquarters' secret location to the Joker, resulting in his resignation from the team. His resignation followed the resignations of two of the league's original members, Wonder Woman (in Justice League of America #69) and J'onn J'onzz (in Justice League of America #71).
Many thanks to Wikipedia.com, link below.
Right first things first, I have just nearly completed posting this but the computer crashed or something, and I'm not happy lol, because as your reading this I've got to do it all again, yes a sane person would give up after writing this out once for the last couple of hours but not me, so you better enjoy lol because I'm screaming inside now! : P
Okay while everythings fresh in my head, I wont be putting in Hawkman or Black Canary for this rooster (first season) as they can appear in season two! Also Hawkman on 'Smallville' looks a little hocky if you know what I mean, like not real when flying so hopefully they can sort that type of effects out in a couple of years and make him more believable... also we want this more towards the actual source than what 'Smallville' does with its characters. Now onto the cast:
Brandon Routh as Superman (Clark Kent):
The original story of Superman relates that he was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, before being rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist father Jor-El, moments before Krypton's destruction. Discovered and adopted by a Kansas farmer and his wife, the child is raised as Clark Kent and imbued with a strong moral compass. Very early he started to display superhuman abilities. Upon reaching maturity he resolved to use said abilities for the benefit of humanity.
While referred to less than flatteringly as "the big blue Boy Scout" by some of his fellow superheroes, Superman is hailed as "The Man of Steel," "The Man of Tomorrow," and "The Last Son of Krypton" by the general public. As Clark Kent, Superman lives among humans as a "mild-mannered reporter" for the Metropolis newspaper Daily Planet (Daily Star in the earliest stories). There he works alongside reporter Lois Lane, with whom he is romantically linked.
Well Brandon Routh is "The Man of Steel," love it or hate it, he was the perfect Superman even if "Superman Returns" wasn't so perfect, he is Superman. Come on how cool would it be for him to be in this 'JLA' series? Even Welling fans have got to admit with him out the picture, Tom has a much better chance as Supes on the big screen, plus if WB ever did a 'Justice' TV show, Tom's chances of the big screen would be near zero, so I say let Routh be the TV Superman from now on. I've got to admit my personally favorites are Owain Yeoman or Henry Cavill for the 'Man of Steel' movie, but if I get Routhy on the small screen leading the Justice League, I'm gonna be happy as Larry lol and wouldn't mind what actor makes the big screen, so Brandon Routh as this JLA TV Superman!
Jeffrey Donovan as Batman (Bruce Wayne):
Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire playboy, industrialist, and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on crime, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice. Bruce trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. Batman operates in Gotham City.
Jeffrey Donovan yes, I can see him as a Marvel Studios Moon Knight on the big screen and I also can see him as a small screen Bruce Wayne, the Dark Knight! I've recently just been catching up with his cool TV show 'Burn Notice' and he is great playing different characters in that, he'll have no problems playing Bruce in this 'JLA' show, the guy has layers of talent and could quite easily play this iconic DC character on the small screen. I was going to pick Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) but he's been cast to death on here as a TV Batman at CBM.com so I wanted something original and good and I think I've found it with Jeffrey Donovan, just check him out and judge for yourself on his hit HBO show. Personally I'd take either of them actors as a TV Bats, great talent!
Ryan McPartlin as Aquaman (Arthur Curry):
While awaiting transport to Miami, Florida, a young man named Arthur Joseph Curry is washed out to sea when a storm ruptures the tank he is in. This Arthur Curry, whose origin closely resembles that of the Golden Age Aquaman as well as that of Neptune Perkins, is the son of oceanobiologist Dr. Phillip Curry. Arthur's mother, Elaine, died in childbirth and Dr. Curry was forced to use a mutagenic serum on his son when he was born three months premature. Arthur has lived his whole life in the main tank of his father's research facility at Avalon Cay, his only window to the outside world being television.
Shortly after his arrival in the sea, Arthur is mentally contacted by the mysterious "Dweller of the Depths," a deformed humanoid with tentacles instead of hair and a left hand made of water. The Dweller urges him to help King Shark, who still bears scars from a previous battle with Aquaman during the recent Crisis. The Dweller, confusing Arthur for Aquaman and calling him his "charge," tells Arthur and King Shark of a prophecy regarding Arthur's future, a prophecy which seems to be a distorted version of the original Aquaman's history. The Dweller reveals that the original Aquaman was "transformed into one akin to a great and terrible enemy of your people and became the vessel of power strange, ancient and terrible."
Arthur's first trip causes him to meet many of Aquaman's supporting characters including Mera, the Sea Devils, Vulko, and eventually Ocean Master. During this adventure, the Dweller progressively realizes that he himself is the original Aquaman, despite having no memory of his former life.
Kevin McKidd is my movie Aquaman but Ryan screams Aquaman too! Cool actor, if you don't know he's in the hit NBC show called 'Chuck,' anyways he has the looks, the bod, the chops (of course) and even blonde, who better to play the king of the DC seas than Ryan McPartlin, if you haven't seen him act, check out his show, I can see no other than him as this JLA Aquaman!
Taylor Cole as Wonder Woman (Diana Prince):
Wonder Woman is a member of an all-female tribe of Amazons (based on the Amazons of Greek mythology), created by Marston as a "distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to 'a world torn by the hatred of men.'" Her powers include super strength, super speed, stamina, and flight. She is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and in the art of tactical warfare. She also possesses an animal-like cunning and a natural rapport with animals, which has in the past been presented as an actual ability to communicate with the animal kingdom. She uses her Magic Lasso (which forces those bound by it to tell the truth), and a pair of indestructible bracelets.
All versions of Diana depict her as a masterful athlete, acrobat, fighter and strategist, trained and experienced in many ancient and modern forms of armed and unarmed combat, including exclusively Amazonian martial arts. In some versions, her mother trained her, as Wonder Girl, for a future career as Wonder Woman. From the beginning, she is portrayed as highly skilled in using her Amazon bracelets to stop bullets and in wielding her golden lasso. She is a superior warrior who has beaten Batman, Big Barda, and Black Canary in sparring matches. The modern version of the character differs from her compatriots in that she is willing to use deadly force when she deems it necessary.
Okay, my favorite to play Wonder Woman on the big screen is Erin Cummings (Spartacus) but this is for this TV show and I see no one better than Taylor Cole. She is great on 'The Event' top show, and screams Wonder Woman, yeah she has brown eyes but I don't see that much of a problem as blue contacts but still even her glazing brownies would be amazing with that Wonder Woman outfit. Can see she can act and I thank DDD for twisting my arm for this one, thanks buddy. Hey with a TV show of her solo coming up from WB who knows, maybe Taylor will land that, fingers crossed.
James Van Der Beek as The Flash (Barry Allen):
Barry Allen is a police scientist (his job title was changed to a forensic scientist in The Flash: Iron Heights one-shot) with a reputation for being very slow, deliberate, and frequently late, which frustrates his fiancee, Iris West. One night, as he is preparing to leave work, a lightning bolt shatters a case full of chemicals and spills them all over Allen. As a result, Allen finds that he can run extremely fast and has matching reflexes. He dons a set of red tights sporting a lightning bolt, dubs himself the Flash (after his childhood comic book hero, Jay Garrick), and becomes Central City's resident costumed crimefighter. Central City University professor Ira West (Iris' adoptive father) designed Allen's costume (reminiscent of the original Fawcett Captain Marvel) and the ring which stores it while Allen is in his civilian identity. The ring can eject the compressed clothing when Allen needs it and suck it back in with the aid of a special gas that shrinks the suit. In addition, Allen invented the cosmic treadmill, a device that allowed for precise time travel and was used in many stories. Allen was so well liked that nearly all speedsters that come after him are constantly compared to him. Batman once said "Barry is the kind of man that I would've hoped to become if my parents hadn't been murdered."
Again, as this was a big hit in my 'Kent & Lane' casting I thought I'd use him again (why break that isn't broke lol). Like I've said, I've always thought this, I don't know why... although my top picks for a big screen Flash (Barry Allen) are Scott Speedman (Younger) and Matthew Fox (Older/Death of The Flash). I can see James Van Der Beek as a young Barry Allen, TV wise anyways, not only do I like him as an actor, nope never watched 'Dawsons Creek' lol, well two episodes... but he does look strangely like John Wesley Ship (who played Barry Allen in the greatest superhero TV show ever made 'The Flash.') So yes I want Van as Barry Allen, I believe John Wesley Ship played his dad too on 'Creek' as well so touch, hey I even wouldn't mind if he made it do a big screen version, though Barry of course lol.
Michael Vartan as Green Lantern (Hal Jordan):
He is DC Comics second Green Lantern and the first human ever inducted into the Green Lantern Corps and founding member of the Justice League of America. Bearer of a Green Lantern ring, he patrols and fights for justice on Earth and outer space for all of Mankind.
Yeah Ryan Reynolds is the big screen Hal in next year, cannot wait for that but on the small screen I pick Michael Vartan, talented actor, you may know him best as Michael Vaughn on that other hit spy show 'Alias' ahhh I miss that lol. I'm kinda surprised this guy hasn't broke into main stream as he's full of talent and not only does he look a spitting image as Hal he is an amazing actor, I miss the guy, come on he needs to be in this 'JLA' TV series! : P
Charlie Hunnam as Green Arrow (Oliver Queen):
Dressed like Robin Hood, Green Arrow is an archer, who invents trick arrows with various special functions, such as a glue arrow, a net arrow, explosive arrow, time bomb arrow, grappling arrow, fire extinguishing arrow, flash arrow, tear gas arrow, cryonic arrow, a boxing-glove arrow, and even a kryptonite arrow. Green Arrow patrols the streets in Star City.
Jon Hamm is a must for 'Super Max,' I have said that many of times, heck he plays Ollie every week in 'Mad Men' but it seems more an more likely we wont ever get to see that unmade masterpiece so lately I've see him more as a perfect J'onn J'onzz (Martian Manhunter) on the big screen, also cast Josh Holloway too for 'Year One' but I think Charlie Hunnam, whos a fantastic actor as he proves that every week on 'Sons of Anarchy.' He would own Oliver Queen, come on the guy oozes talent, just see his character Jackson 'Jax' Teller and tell me he isn't the best for this superhero archer, heck he'd shoot that arrow right outta the park! Can see no other.
Julia Voth as Zatanna:
Zatanna is the daughter of magician Giovanni Zatara (who appeared in Golden Age comic books) and Sindella, a member of the mystical “Homo magi” race. Zatanna is a direct descendant of the alchemist Nicholas Flamel (who was a famous alchemist in the 14th and 15th centuries), and Nostradamus[citation needed]. Her younger cousin, the teenager Zachary Zatara, is also a magician in the DCU.
Zatanna is a powerful sorceress whose abilities are apparently genetic. As a tribute to her father and as a focal point, she usually casts spells by speaking verbal commands backwards. She has also proven capable on many occasions of casting spells by speaking normally, and, in rarer occasions, the ability to use magic for simple tasks without speaking. Like Black Canary, Zatanna's reliance on her voice often led to her being bound and gagged by villains in Silver Age stories, thus rendering her 'powerless'. On very rare occasions, Zatanna has cast spells by writing them in her own blood rather than speaking them aloud. As stated by herself and Batman, blood magic is far more powerful than spoken incantations. It's used as a last resort, only to heal from severe physical damage preventing her to speak, like having her larynx mangled by a bullet, or her mouth magically erased by her own powers. The only magic command issued in both cases, Heal me, had to be spelled backwards, as she were speaking (laeH em).
Overuse of her magical powers can deplete them to the point that further use of them starts to put a considerable strain on her physical well-being: as with other magical users, the only way to restore her waning powers is an extended period of rest.
Yup this gal is perfect for Zatanna, if you ever saw 'Bitch Slap' you'll know why, she has the chops and the moves plus the bod to pull off Zatanna, I love Serinda Swan but I can't see her out of 'Smallville' into this, it will just confuse people. Anyways don't want to ruin the end of 'Bitch Slap' but right at the end you see exactly what Julia Voth has got. I really can't see any other actress playing the role of Zatanna than her! Shes recently been in 'Love Hurts' too.
Johnny Knoxville as Plastic Man:
After "Crisis on Infinite Earths", Plastic Man: Eel O'Brian, abandoned by his criminal gang after being shot and exposed to the acid, wandered the streets as his new powers developed, frightening others and bringing the police and National Guard down on him as a dangerous monster. Eel was at first oblivous to the changes to his body, but after realizing that he was the monster everyone was going on about, he used his new abilities to escape his pursuers, but soon became so despondent over his new condition that he attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge.
Fortunately, he was interrupted by Woozy Winks, a former mental patient who was kicked out of an institution due to lack of funding (or as Woozy put it, "something called Reaganomics"), who desired nothing more than to return to the warm safety of a straitjacket and padded room. Eel and Woozy decided to work together and capitalize on Eel's new powers to make their fortunes (Eel wanting to get rich quick, Woozy just wanting his "old room" back), but couldn't decide whether there was more money in crime or crime-fighting, and resorted to flipping a coin to choose serving the law (though Woozy had his doubts early on). Eel, ending up with the name "Plastic Man" after a reporter misinterpreted his first choice, "Elastic Man", and Woozy set up a detective agency in New York City and had various misadventures.
Well we all know this Jack ass (lol) he ain't a bad actor and could pull of this character as good or even better than Jim Carrey would have (Damn he should have done that Plastic Man movie that never was ol' Jim, what a crime). Anyways, Loved Johnny in 'Dukes of Hazzard' and in 'Men in Black' too. He would make a great Plastic Man and he'd probably crack us all up too, that bit of humor we'd expect in a series like this. So yeah Johnny Knoxville = Plastic Man.
Christoper Judge as Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz/John Jones):
Also Geoff Stultz as a cameo in his human form as John Jones:
The character is a green-skinned extraterrestrial humanoid from the planet Mars, — "Ma'aleca'andra" in his native tongue, who is pulled to earth by an experimental teleportation beam (originally presented as an attempted communication device) constructed by Dr. Erdel. The shock of the encounter kills Dr. Erdel and leaves J'onn with no method of returning home. The character decides to fight crime while waiting for Martian technology to advance to a stage that will enable his rescue. To that end, he adopts the identity of John Jones, a detective in the fictional Apex City (later retconned as Chicago).
Dennis Haysbert's my personally pick long ago but as this is for a TV 'JLA' why not, I would never pick this pick for the big screen but Christopher Judge would absolutely own as J'onn J'onzz. He has everything, the voice, the huge muscles and even the face, imagine him all green with red contacts... heck yeah, MARS win! Like I said I wouldn't pick him for a big screen version as WB would probably use CGI but on a TV budget it would look like 'Smallvilles' Doomsday or Darkseid, just not got the effect on the budget of TV to pull it off, and Judge is the living breathing of Martian Manhunter, good actor too, loved 'StarGate SG-1!'
Now, the following are going to be supporting cast, co starrers if you will:
Sarah Lancaster as Lois Lane:
Lois underwent a character alteration beginning with John Byrne's The Man of Steel miniseries, which significantly rewrote Superman's origin and history. In this modern version of events, Lois was portrayed as a tough-as-nails reporter who rarely needed rescuing. She was depicted as strong, opinionated, yet sensitive.
Another major change made was that Lois did not fall in love with Superman (though she may have harbored a slight crush at first). One reason was the revised nature of the Superman/Clark Kent relationship. In the original Silver Age stories, Superman had been the man who disguised himself as Clark Kent. In this new revised concept, it was Clark Kent who lived a life in which his activity as Superman was decidedly secondary. Lois initially resented the rookie Clark Kent getting the story on Superman as his first piece when she had spent ages trying to get an interview, but she eventually became his best friend. Lois' first real relationship in this version was with Jose Delgado, a Metropolis vigilante whose legs are shattered in a battle with a Lexcorp cyborg/human hybrid gone amok. Delgado eventually recovered. He and Lois would have several on and off experiences together before the relationship completely disintegrated, mainly due to Clark and Lois becoming much closer as friends.
Sarah great in 'Chuck,' playing Ellie Bartowski, she is a very fine actress and every week I watch it she shouts Lois Lane, she could easily handle this TV role and if you want to see her other acting talents check out 'What About Brian' and Dr.Vegas' she would have amazing chemistry with Brandon Routh it wouldn't be funny, she has the looks, chops and talent, you can believe shes a tough-as-nails reporter for The Daily Planet!
Michelle Ryan as Carol Ferris:
The Green Lantern: Secret Origin storyline revised parts of Carol and Hal's history. In this retelling, the two first met when they were eight, as they watched Hal's father, Carl Ferris's best friend, experience mechanical problems with his plane. With a choice between crash landing in Coast City, or the nearby desert, Hal's father chose to fly into the desert. Over the years, the guilt over what had happened ate away at Carol's father, eventually driving him to sickness, forcing Carol to give up her dream of being a pilot, and take over as CEO of Ferris Air. Unwilling to have people know of her father's illness, Carol told them that he had retired to Miami. When Hal, who had hated Ferris for what had happened, discovered the truth, he and Carol found solace in each other's grief. However, their relationship is stifled by Carol's refusal to date employees.
As Ferris Aircraft's Vice President, Carol Ferris, the only child of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris, hired Hal Jordan and quickly found herself attracted to the fearless test pilot, who was secretly the superhero Green Lantern. However, the young couple’s romance quickly became complicated when Carol took over the company from her father and the Zamarons crowned her the new Star Sapphire. When the Zamarons discovered that she was in love with Green Lantern, a servant of their estranged friends, the Guardians of the Universe, they sent her to defeat Green Lantern in battle as Star Sapphire.
Of couse shes just Carol Ferris in this and maybe turn Supervillain in season two. Yeah Michelle Ryan got a bum deal with 'Bionic Woman' very short lived, I actually thought she was good in it, pity but she needs to play a comic book character again and this is the one, just imagine when she turns Star Sapphire, close your eyes, yeah thats itr baby! Yeah, she'd make a cool Carol Ferris, a buddy of mine Hrach gave me this inspired idea.
Jessica Stroup as Iris West Allen:
Iris West Allen is the wife of the second Flash, Barry Allen, the aunt of the third Flash, Wally West, and the grandmother of the fourth Flash, Bart Allen.
In her first appearance, Iris was a reporter for the Picture News, based in Central City, and the girlfriend of the Barry Allen, who is secretly the Flash. Eventually, she learned that Barry was not only the city's heroic speedster, but her step-nephew, Wally West, was Kid Flash. In Flash #165 (November 1966), she married Barry, discovering on their wedding night that Barry was the Flash (through Barry talking in his sleep). During this time, the couple discovered that Iris was born in the 30th Century (c 2945 AD), and had been sent back to the present shortly before "Earth-East" attacked "Earth-West," when Central City was a self-contained city. After years as a prominent presence in the Flash's life and Central City, she was killed by Professor Zoom during a costume party. Zoom vibrates his hand into her head, solidifying it just enough to kill her. Enraged by his wife's death, Barry, as the Flash, killed Zoom by breaking his neck.
Iris did not stay dead for long. As Iris's biological parents, the Russells (with the help of a future Flash, John Fox), sent the then-infant Iris to the past, where she was adopted by Ira West, her "death" caused a paradox that was resolved after the Russells placed her consciousness into a new body. Barry was reunited with Iris in her time, anyway yeah what can I say, I wouldn't pick Jessica for the big screen version but her and Van Der Beek are a perfect match and I reckon would feed of each others performance, she got that reporter vibe about her too, loud and proud just like Lois Lane (Sarah Lancaster).
As for Villains, there is none, I want
YOU to say who you would like and think would be great Supervillains, rememeber its TV so no big names and no characters like Doomsday etc that need big budget effects, thanx 4 reading! :)
LEEE777 - Well hope you enjoyed reading it, wish I could say the same making it, but that beat the holy crap out of me posting this twice!
Comments and your thoughts below and remember we're all comic book fans lol! ; p
