FAN-ticizing: 5 Things I'd Like To See In DOCTOR STRANGE

In this editorial, I discuss the 5 Things that I would absolutely love to see in the Doctor Strange film.

A while back, Marvel Studios announced that there would films slated for 2016 releases, as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Phase 3." One of the films have been confirmed to be the third Captain America film, with much assumption that the other film would be a Doctor Strange film. With reports from Marvel exec Kevin Feigie concerning a Doctor Strange film, and a name drop of the character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we now know that th character exists in the cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange 1
With that being said, here are 5 Things that I would like to see in a Doctor Strange film:

1. Stephen Strange Done Right

Marvel Studios has gotten their heroes right for the most part, so this isn't a big issue. However, I would still like to see the character's full potential explored. I want to see Dr. Stephen Strange being an arrogant prick, before humbling himself and becoming the "Sorcerer Supreme." His origin story or whatever story they tell should be a hero's journey, similar to Tony Stark's origin in Iron Man. I want to see a character I root for, that can be marketable at the same time.

2. The Spectacle Of Stan Lee And Steve Ditko Brought To Life

In the original comics, Stan Lee told mystical tales that blended fantasy and science fiction, which was magnified by Steve Ditko's psychedelic cosmic entities that intrigues the eye. With today's technology in film, this can be presented to the 10th power, especially behind companies that produce Marvel's special effects, such as ILM and Weta Digital.

3. A Director That Can "Bring It"

Marvel's director picks have been from good to great, with directors such as Joss Whedon, Alan Taylor, and the Russo brothers. I want a director that could capture everything I described earlier.

4. A Great Story

After Marvel's presentation of great films, such as Iron Man, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they have proven that they are capable of giving us great stories that keeps us on the edge of our seat and surprise us in good ways, as well as great characters that back those stories up. So, with a Doctor Strange film, I would like to see an amazing story that surprises all of us.

5. A Great Pick For The "Sorcerer Supreme"

The field of casting is Marvel's strongest suit. They have made masterful casting decisions that surprise, and even shock us, with fantastic actors. So, here is my choice for Doctor Strange:

-Rob Lowe

I know this is unexpected, but I thought about it, and I narrowed down all the fan-favorites, then narrowed down some left field choices, and Rob Lowe made the most sense to me out of all of the choices, because he's a big name right now, he's a seasoned actor, but is the right age for the character, and it works with the direction the MCU is going. So, #RobLoweForDoctorStrange, spread it around.

Comment, and make sure you Hit The Big Red Thumbs Up. This is @FoneBone, see you later.

I've posted this on every Doc Strange fancast but...
I want Colin Farrell for Stephen!
He's a pretty out of the box choice, sure, but he has so much charisma and talent that is everything a leading man needs to have.

@bluedude

If only there was a legit explanation. Maybe they'll do the entire "Magic is actually Science" gig like in Thor. zZzZzzz

I'm still here for Luke Evans as Strange.

Jon Hamm or Jonathan Rhys Meyers for Strange.

@bluedude Well the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 wasn't even the Mandarin, so I don't think they thought magic is ridiculous... Also, in the "Hail the King" one-shot, it was confirmed there is a real Mandarin in the MCU, possibly a comic accurate Mandarin.

@MrCameron, I could see Rhys Meyers in the role.

Plus they said they didn't want to explain the magical rings. And it doesn't make sense to have magic in a stark story.

I don't give a shit about cast but they better do it right like Winter Soldier. No jokes during the most tense action packed scenes like Thor: the Dark World and Iron Man 3... and have Dormammu in that bitch!

Best ranked solo outings in the mcu.
PHASE 1
Best: Iron Man

Worst: Iron Man 2

PHASE 2

Best: Captain America the Winter Soldier (Unless Guardians of the Galaxy is perfect which it could be)

Worst: Iron Man 3 (Unless Guardians of the Galaxy is shit which it could be... I doubt it)

Whoever they pick to play Strange needs to know how to be overly dramatic without while keeping a serious face. The last person they need is Johnny Depp even though I know a lot of fans are asking for him. But Depp is too goofy. He would bring that whole awkward goofiness to the role and that is just the complete opposite of Dr Strange.

Strange is dead serious 99% of the time, so whoever plays him needs to be that way too, without bringing goofy facial expresions to it.

Its a tough part to cast. I personally dont have anyone in mind but I just know people like Depp and Colin Ferrel are not right.

Bluedude: Not only does ten alien rings not work in Tonys world in the movies but also, they would just come off straight goofy in a live action fight sequence. Extremis could've been a good substitute but, I'm happy with the way they handled it.

As far as Doctor Strange goes, I have no worries. I mean, people always have the same [frick]ing picks. Sure, I made an editorial suggesting Adrian Brody (look at his dramatic and action roles, he's an academy award winning actor, ect) but, Stephen Dorff could make a good Doctor Strange as well as Josh Hartnett. As far as FoneBone's pick though, never heard of him

I want to see a bromance between Strange and Wong.

@Corndog

Please watch "Saving Mr Banks" and you'll see how talented Colin is. He can definitely play someone with intelligence and humour. This is Marvel, do you honestly think they'll have a very very serious Strange movie?

Good article there :)
Ive said this on almost every dr.strange article and even in my own fan cast article i made on this site., i would like the creators of the avatar: the legend of aang animated series helm this movie and co write it with the creators of the animated venture bros series.
The creators of avatar:loa are amazing directors who have created a show that balaces both spiritulism and science.
The creators of the venture bros series are dr strange nerds. They know the ins and outs of dr.strange. Nuff said.

@ Cherry

Oh no, I don't want to give the impression that I don't like Colin Farrell. I actually do. I Like Depp also. I just don't think they are right for this.

They both are known for making those goofy facial expressions.

Granted, they are both capable of playing serious parts, but in a super hero role, I can't see them not bringing their brand of goofy facial expressions.

I think Jon Hamm is has already been cast as Baron Mordo and Adrien Brody is Dr. Strange. The reason Hamm isn't a good fit for Strange is 1 he's too damn good looking, 2 he's too funny and irreverent. Strange is serious. Brody make's much more sense. To do it right is to explain Mordo and Strange at the same time
