MCU Reboot MegaCast Part I: The Heroes
Ewan McGregor is Ant-Man (Hank Pym)
Ant-Man is a very sophisticated, dignified guy (minus the wife beating). McGregor is a very dignified actor, and a consistent one as well. McGregor has exceptional range and can switch between personas on the fly.He can deliver bring-the-house-down performances without having to do anything out of the ordinary for himself. A very good actor that will be able to encompass the many faces and sides of Dr. Hank Pym.
Jamie Bell as Ant-Man (Scott Lang)
Bell might seem very young for Lang, but he is actually a veteran-ish actor in age (28) and the number of movies that he has been in. In my vision of Lang, he is not a janitor, but a student of Pym. Bell can play the student aspect and the father aspect as well. Bell can tie together all of Lang.
Chitwetel Ejiofor as Black Panther
This is such a common pick, but I did have to jump on the bandwagon after 12 Years a Slave. Ejiofor did an amazing job that was also very heartfelt performance. Ejiofor is super capable of a leading man role. And what better way to do this than with a groundbreaking movie such as a Black Panther one. Black Panther needs to be a total B.A. in these movies (on par with Capt. America) and Chitwetel would be able to do this without a huge problem.
Emily Blunt as Black Widow
I'll be blunt (no pun intended), I wasn't too sure about Emily Blunt. My first pick was Amanda Righetti, but I wanted someone with more gravitas. Then the Edge of Tommorow reviews flowed in. And apparently she was a B.A. in this movie. This swayed me enough to change the pick. Blunt also was one of the actress in the running for the role originally, so I'm not alone here. I have alot of faith in Blunt now and know she'd kill it as Widow. Chris Pine as Capt. America Talk about about a hard role to cast! I wasn't behind the current star in the role, Chris Evans until I saw The Winter Soldier. Umm, yea it totally changed my mind. So his replacement needs to be legit. Funny, I actually had Blunt's husband John Krasinski of Office fame. And I liked the pick. But I had a real hard time believing he could convey the action I wanted in Cap. The Winter Soldier made progress on how B.A. that Mr. America should be. But it was only about a 60%. Cap should be Leonidas and Deathstroke combined. Pine is a capable actor that could be a great action star. He also has that all-american look like Evans, which is a plus. Michael C. Hall as Daredevil Yup.
Matthew McConaughey as Dr. Strange
Have you guys seen True Detective? If you haven't, what's wrong with you? McConaughey was listed as co-starring with Woody Harrelson, but come on. Matthew stole the series. He also stole this role. In the past sections, he showed the swagger needed for Strange. In currrent day, he shows the range and emotion hat has to be present. It would not be hard to imagine someone with McConaughey's gravitas be a world class doctor. He could also be believe him as the almighty Sorcerer Supreme.
Chadwick Boseman as Falcon
Chadwick Boseman is quickly becoming one of the best young actors today. He showed that he could act his butt of in 42, portraying a legend in Jackie Robinson. Another career-defining role as Falcon. In Captain America: TWS, Falcon didn't have a large role to play, which was understandable. But Boseman could do alot in this role. He'd bring a likeable funny character. A Falcon that would be a fan favorite.
Norman Reedus as Ghost Rider
This seems out of left field doesn't it? Reedus is (mostly) everyone's favorite B.A. zombie killer in The Walking Dead. He's also a great actor, if you didn't know. Ghost Rider is a very dark tormented character, and needs to act as such. Nic Cage's Ghost Rider movies were terrible. Norman Reedus can bring the seriousness that a character like Ghost rider needs.
Richard Madden as Hawkeye
Hello, Mr. Stark. Ok, so this isn't the Stark from this universe (he comes later), but Richard Madden is a Stark in GOT. He isn't a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, but he is a bloody good fit for Hawkeye. Robb Stark was a carefree boyish character who increasingly matured into a warrior. Hawkeye should be the same type of character, who matures into an ace archer who can't miss and makes incredible shots. Hawkeye should mature like this, but still have the legendary wit and jerky-ness (is that a word?).
Elijah Wood as Hulk
Elijah Wood is a really likeable guy. You just want to give him a hug. In Lord of Rings and in Wilfred he is one of my favorite characters. And he also has a striking resemblance to Bruce Banner in the comics. Wood's likeablity would make his descent to becoming the Hulk would make it all the more tragic. Physically, Hulk should be a powerful as Thor. A beast, but also a good man who became something more.
