The film starts with a narrator telling the story of the Triforce (likely Zelda herself). After this, the story moves to show an attack on a small kingdom in the land of Hyrule. The attack is led by Ganon, the Prince of Darkness. In haste, as Ganon’s forces move closer, the princess Zelda manages to split the Triforce of Wisdom into eight fragments and disperse them throughout Hyrule. However, before she can also split the Triforce of Power, Ganon and his men burst in, kidnapping the princess and stealing the Triforce of Power. Having been hidden behind a curtain in the corner of the room, Zelda’s nursemaid, Impa, flees the castle and goes off in search of someone to save the princess.
The film then turns its attention to a young man named Link. Link is a drifter of sorts that goes from place to place seeking work. The young man is one of few words, but his actions speaker louder. Link one day finds himself in a village near Zelda’s kingdom. Some of Ganon’s men from the night before have ventured into an inn in the village. Link sits quietly in a corner of the inn eating his breakfast as the men begin parading around the room. When the men start to cause a ruckus, Link speaks up, causing a backlash from the leader of the group. Push comes to shove and fisticuffs ensue. Link proves to be superior to the men, even though outnumbered. Paying for his meal, Link walks out silently.
Having witnessed the fight from another table in the inn, Impa follows Link and appeals to him. Link shows little interest in helping the nursemaid or trying to challenge someone as powerful as Ganon. Impa bargains with the young man and asks if he will at least aid her in journeying back to the kingdom. Link agrees after Impa offers to pay him. However, Impa tricks Link into believing that the kingdom can only be reached by going through a cave. In reality, Impa leads Link through the cave so that he can find the first shard of the Triforce of Wisdom. Convinced that with the power of the Triforce that he can defeat Ganon, Link decides to rescue Zelda.
Retrieving the first shard is simple, but the other pieces are guarded by beasts. With Ganon’s forces looking for the shards also, Link has a difficult journey ahead. I’ll skip over all of the nasty little details and get to the end. After Link and Impa have made it through thick and thin together, Link has reassembled the Triforce of Wisdom and faces Ganon. While Link fights Ganon, Impa sneaks through the castle atop Death Mountain (Ganon’s home) looking for Zelda. Blah, blah, blah, Link defeats Ganon, Zelda is freed, Link returns the Triforce of Wisdom and the Triforce of Power to the princess, and peace is restored in Hyrule.
I’m much too lazy and much too unfamiliar with all of the details of the game to go into too much detail with this plot. However, I’ve done my research and come up with the best thing I could. It may just be my judgment, but it may be better to divide this story up into multiple films; that is, considering that there are eight different fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom. However, if done correctly I suppose the story could play out well in a single film also. If it seems like I put little effort into this it’s because I skipped over what occurs between pivotal plot points.
The one thing I know for sure is that Link should do very little speaking in the film. In all of the games in the series of The Legend of Zelda, Link speaks very little if ever at all. Some might think that the main character having little dialogue may hurt the performance, but it’s been done before (Dwayne Johnson’s performance in Faster comes to mind). Either way, if this movie ever gets made, I wouldn’t expect to see my name in the credits unless it’s as one of the actors.
Cast:
Link- Andrew Garfield

For the lack of a better choice, this is who I’ve cast. I want the cast to be talented and mostly British, but I don’t know all that many British actors and any American actors good for the roles that can speak with the accent aren’t coming to mind. Garfield would obviously work in the role, but I’m somewhat hesitant considering that he is already apart of the Spider-Man reboot, which is a massive franchise. Being apart of two large franchises would be a bit overkill, but I cannot think of anyone better.
Zelda- Keira Knightley
Zelda fell victim to the same fate as Link. I just couldn’t think of anyone else. Again, the choice is not bad, but there is the actress’s past work to consider. Pirates of the Caribbean AND The Legend of Zelda on the filmography seem like a bit much. Let’s face it; I don’t have a clue what I’m doing on this film.
Impa- Emma Watson
I don’t feel so bad about this choice because Watson would be playing a somewhat more minor character. Impa will be a combination of the two characters pictured as well as given my own interpretation. The character will be ever-present, but it doesn’t seem so odd having Watson in this film even though she’s been apart of the Harry Potter franchise. I suppose I should focus less I my doubts and more on why I think these actors work for the roles.
Ganon- Liam Neeson
This choice was obvious and I don’t feel bad about it at all. Neeson is Ganon, there’s no doubt about that. This character was practically made for him and him for it.
