[OAU] Title Release Dates And Continuity

[OAU] Title Release Dates And Continuity

This is a list of the titles that have, I emphasise; HAVE, to be done by the first week of April of this year. Please use this time to set continuity between these titles straight within their respective universes. Sorry if I seem like a douche, this just seemed like an issue that needed addressing

A lot of people are wondering about the release dates for certain titles and whatnot, so, to make things easier, the following list details the titles that will be released first, when they must be submitted by and method of submission. In order to submit the finished product, email it to the below email address:

[email protected]

You WILL be credited for your work and any of your other work, be it fan art or fan scripts, will be hyperlinked in the article. THIS IS A NON-PROFIT PROJECT. No money will be earned by any person partaking in this project and no profit will EVER be made from this project. This is entirely user generated.

All finished scripts/novels/comic strips should be submitted in during the first week of April of this year. Any titles that may clash with another title are presented in blue (based off the Who's Who article). If you are writing one of these titles, discuss any continuity issues that may arise. If you're planning a spin off/solo series/prequel for a character who is traditionally part of a team, wait until the team has an established continuity to build off of before you go writing a story out of context. Pleas note: ONLY THE FIRST ISSUE IS REQUIRED FOR APRIL. The following titles will be the first titles in the OAU line-up:

THE DC OAU:

- Superman:
Writer: Alphadog
Art: TheStarLord

- Batman:
Writer: Alphadog & SotoJuiceMan collaboration
Art: TheStarLord

- Flash:
Writer #1: AxlComics
Writer #2: SonGoku

- Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner):
Writer: EddieBrock
Art: EddieBrock

THE MARVEL OAU:

- Spider-Man (Peter Parker):
Writer: RedHood
Will be in script format.

- Wolverine:
Writer: WeaponX93
Will be presented in script/novel form.

- X-Men:
Writer: DEVLIN712
Art: Unnoccupied

- Hulk:
Writer #1: JamesMann
Writer #2: SilverHawk
Art: CasanovaRodeo

- Silver Surfer:
Writer: NovaCorpsFanGonnaFlipYa
Art: Doopie

-------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: If the script has not been drawn you can send it in anyway. These titles have been chosen as they are self-contained characters that do not require straying from their own branch of the universe. If you would like your title to be a part of this list, feel free to ask me. Use this time to set continuity straight amongst these titles, that means list of characters being used and time frame. DO NOT GIVE THIS ARTICLE THUMBS UP FOR THE PURPOSE OF EDITING THE LIST.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope it has made the goal a bit clearer for now. If certain writers/artists no longer show an interest, their slot will be filled with another title until they finish their own title. If stories clash, DO NOT ARGUE. If the title is not in the article, then it can be altered between now and time of release to better fit the continuity.

If this feels like we're rushing you, we apologise. This project picked up speed fast and it's difficult to cope with the influx of stories, character designs and ideas. If an agreement cannot be reached between two contributors, both stand to be removed from the group. If we can't work as a team, there's no point of working at all. Finally, if you aren't using an artist, let me know and I'll see if you can also fit in the line-up. My Silver Surfer will be the first to be replaced if a more popular character is in no need of an artist.

This article was submitted by NovaCorpsFanGonnaFlipYa. If you have any issues, ask about them! Sorry if I seem like a dick, but we need to kick things into gear now. Another moderator would also be greatly appreciated to watch over the DC aspect of things. Moderators should try and gather continuity points and email them to the CBM OAU email account or summarise them in the Skype group.

Thanks for taking the time to read this guys. Again, sorry if I come across as a dick,

Nova.

Nope, not a mod or at least no one told me I was ...just volunteered to keep track of the characters and time frame on the Marvel side of things. In fact, I can hold off on my title (which isn't a big title in the first place ...zo it can run a bit after the launch)and focus strictly on organizing the 'verse ...as long as I don't lose my claims. So I guess if you want to mod me to make sure continuity is completely in order for launch and beyond then go for it. In addition to launch guys, who I think have all gave me a list, can the Avengers, Iron Man, and Ant-Man and Wasp folk contact to me. Those are the titles that are so intertwined that there needs to be a game plan for them set up well before their release and in their developmental stage. I have a list for Iron Man but again would love to have some co-ordination there early on.

Actually screw it. I'll give up my claims in order to kick off the Marvel side on a good start. Then once a good majority is off the ground or there is no movement from someone doing a big title that needs to get off the ground, I will jump on when I feel confident that things are in proper and there is no confusion as to who is where, who is writing what, and how things are organized.

What I would personally like to do is go with this starting line up but with every month make sure one big book is premiering while the smaller books get cycled in as they are finished. So on the Marvel side, you have X-Men, Spiderman, SSm and Hulk. For March, I would talk to the guy working on Fantastic and see what the possibility of him being the big title debut for that month. Say that also before March, the first issue of Ghostrider is finished? Well, sine he isn't exactly considered a HEAVY HITTER and is mostly self contained then it can be released in March too. Same for almost every non-spinoff/team member character ...those might be asked to alter some things one they turn something in or held back until the team forms ...it would all depend on the continuity. And then do the same the next month with Iron Man or present Cap being the big title. (these are just examples)

Could Teen Titans and Suicide Squad be released at the same time? The stories build off each other, but don't have to be a part of the first release.

I'm not a great artist, but I'll try doing the art for the X-Men series. It won't be perfect though. You can check out some of my art Here:

@nova, @alpha @batmor @devlin

This is mere observation here but in here and in skype, there seems to be a lot of contradiction from the people that are in charge or giving the idea of being in charge (I only say that because there are a lot of people saying a lot of things, it is hard to pin point who is what?)Like Nova, when you came up with the release dates and telling people to stop posting about titles that you don't consider big ...was this something you discussed with the other mods or was this kind of a spur of the moment solution? Not that trying to establish structure isn't necessary but the people running it need to be on the same page instead there just seeming to be people just giving out orders without discussing it with the other people in charge. Because like I said there just seems to be people making statements without the other mods backing that up. As I said in skype, I think setting a message board to organize everything will be ideal. That will solve a lot of problems including telling people with books not on that list to not talk on skype about their projects. This way you guys can observe everyone's progress and have an easier way to document everything. And then the skype chat could be for the mods to discuss everything together and up to date on each person's progress.

But as it refers to releases and stuff and organizing what and when and keeping a hold of continuity, like I said, I am dropping my book and my claims to focus on the Marvel side of things. Devlin, Nova, Batmor Are you cool with me just straight up organizing when each book is released and communicating with the writers and artists on that end and getting the Marvel side up? That way, Marvel guys will know where to go to with questions and updates and then D.C would have Nova and Batmor right? It works better than each person trying to juggle two universes as the other mod tries to do the same. Having each person have an EXACT duty would create proper structure.

Alphadog
Alphadog - 1/22/2014, 11:55 PM
@Objectivelybiased Eddie Brock and me are managing the DC side. It's not the same thing as being moderators but I think that we should be the ones who decide what comics get released first, along with every other member of the project of course. I don't remember giveing out any rules, just giving people advice on keeping continuity. If people want to the it another way than I will give them chance unless it completely clashes with what we're doing.

I can vouch for kinghulk's avengers idea. It's really awesome and original plus he gives some backgroung on it with his own comic.

I am on Eternals but I don't have an artist yet. Any takers?

I also contacted Dev to officially claim Moon Knight and Wonderman but he hasn't gotten back to me in a couple of days, which I thought was weird since he usually replies within the hour.

Do these first issues need to be in by April too or is that just the main books?
BawbScharf
BawbScharf - 1/23/2014, 11:25 AM
@alpha ...thats my point. We have so many people saying things but we don't know what they are or who they talked to to come to these rules or decisions. When a mod says these are the release dates and limits conversations in the skype, I want to know if this was something from ALL of the mods or just a mod doing what he thinks is best. Obviously, limiting discussion in the skype to "main books" I see a lot of problems with. Also, adding a threat of people who argue about things will be kicked out was completely un necessary at this point where no one is arguing about those things in the first place. The only thing that I saw that came close was you and I discussing holding out for artists ...but it never got hostile. So there was no need to put that in anyone's head. My point here is that mods and guys running each universe need to know EXACTLY what is going on and agree on these decisions instead of one person saying "this is what is going on." And I agree, the guys taking charge of each universe should be the ones who decide what books get released when ...because we are the ones communicating with the writers and know how far a long a project is. And as mods, they should be discussing with the people running each universe what their expectations are and what they envision things and provide structure for the creative process to continue its course. MOST IMPORTANTLY this involves communication between Mods, universe runners, and the writers. Mods communicate to universe runners, universe runners communicate to writers. Setting this up on a message will help with that more so I think.

@Kinghulk- Are you the one listed as the writer on Avengrs? And its Robertmcallister on the skype chat. Let me know what characters you need.

@Scuzz Only the main books need to be in by April. So far nobody has Moon Knight or wonder man from my knowledge. I'll note the claim.

Alphadog
Alphadog - 1/23/2014, 12:32 PM
@Scuzz I think that we're going to get some artists over the weekend so have some hope.
@Objectivelybiased I didn't mean that we would kick them out, I just meant that we couldn't let them follow those ideas. They could still do those comics but in different ways or give up on the titles and write other things. Imagine that we get someone who wants to write a story that takes place right after my title and ends the universe forever. We can try to adapt the idea but if the writer isn't willing to change than he's not going to get the chance to write the story. It can be very good but it needs to fit with everything else. I like to think of myself as someone who wants to integrate everyone and every idea into the universe and I will go to every means to get my fellow artists ideas into the articles but I have to be fair to everyone and be a leader. Right now I'm not really discussing what we have to do because a lot of people including me haven't figured out everything about their comics. It's only after we figure out what we want to do that we can decide what we will do.
Alphadog
Alphadog - 1/23/2014, 1:31 PM
I get the first part but I repeat that I wasn't going to kick anyone out just to make it clear. I myself have been keeping up with things and trying to inform every member on what is going on. I have been able to connect several comics and a lot of people have started working together even though they are doing separate things. Up until now everything seems to be following a continuity.
