The Official Best Comic Runs of all time tournament(Marvel Part 1)

With all the tournaments going on right(one of which I'm participating in), I'd figure I'd gather the comic fans on this site to vote the greatest runs of all time, also note that this is the Marvel bracket.

Of all time ACTUALLY means from this list I chose for you to choose from then? This works better if you have people suggest their own lists, combine those together and narrow them down. This kind of hand holding is corrupt in nature ...albeit probably not maliciously. Maybe the other tournament JUST LIKE THIS does it that way, but the list of CBM television shows isn't as broad as creator runs in comics.

Already missing is Wolfman's Teen Titans run, Morrison's New X-Men, both runs of Peter David's X-Factor ...and I'm sure there are a bunch that others can come up with.

@BawbScharf - Also, Snyder's recent run with Batman and I'm sure I will think of more throughout the day as I put together the first round match for the Fan Cast Tournament.

@BawbScharf - Wolfman's Teen Titans will be in the DC Bracket, and I'll probably add those runs when I edit this bracket(by adding more runs). Thanks for the feedback

@BawbScharf - In fact, I might just put out 2 Marvel and 2 DC Brackets, so I can run the total up to 64. Now al we need is @captainwagner and @comicbornandbred and the four of us can be the selection committee for the rest of the day. Care to join?

Great stuff!

Joss Whedon was basically the guy that got me into comics. I was a late bloomer to comics (they didn't really exist in a town of 500 people in Tasmania, Australia) and I followed him from Buffy/Firefly.

Stan Lee's run on Fantastic Four I personally think is one of the most significant runs in cbm history. He and Jack Kirby basically created the Marvel universe through that

1)Chris Claremont's X-Men(1975-1991)

2)Peter David's Hulk(1985-1997)

14)Joss Whedon's X-Men(2008-2013)

Greg Pak's The Incredible Hercules(2008-2010)

5)Jonothan Hickman's Fantastic Four

6)J Michael Stracynski's Thor(2007-2011)

10) Frank Miller's Daredevil(1995-`1998)

9)Kurt Busiek's Avengers(1999-2002)

@ossie85 - Thanks for the feedback-and I'll be sure to include Stan Lee's F4 in the next bracket(this is all a very flawed process, bear with me)

@JaredRWebb12 - No its good :) picking the ones to choose is the most difficult part
JaredRWebb12
JaredRWebb12 - 3/11/2017, 9:48 AM
@ossie85 - Amen to that, probably why I'm working on a selection committee. Care to join up(you don't lose voting rights, but you get to pick which runs get in)

@JaredRWebb12 - I'm a bit haphazard with my availability so will pass, but thanks for offer!

@ossie85 - No problem at all. I can fully understand that(work and college is a killer)

Jason Aaron's Thor? Garth Ennis' Punisher? Loeb/Sale Batman? Loeb/Lee Batman? Chuck Dixon's Batman? Bendis/Bagley Ultimate Spider-Man? Are we including comics that have not had 100+ issue runs or runs on books that only ever had one author? Planetary, Sandman, Scalped, DMZ, and so many others...Are we only doing this based on authors, or can it be teams or illustrators?
TheDayman
TheDayman - 3/11/2017, 2:43 PM
@Zarog - This is just Marvel.
JaredRWebb12
JaredRWebb12 - 3/11/2017, 8:05 PM
@Zarog - To your first question this is an exclusively author tourney, as for the second, this is Marvel, and imprints WILL be considered, and for part three, there will be a second Marvel bracket, and then two DC Brackets in this 64 run tourney, thank you for your suggestions as they will all be considered.

@Valdez - My bad. Reading comprehension was apparently not my strong suit yesterday.

@Zarog - It's all good, will you vote on this just out of curiosity?
TheDayman
TheDayman - 3/11/2017, 2:46 PM
Wow, I really need to read more comics... I'll only vote for rounds where I read at least one of the runs.

1)Chris Claremont's X-Men(1975-1991)

2) 15)Matt Fraction's Hawkeye(2012-2015)

3) 14)Joss Whedon's X-Men

4)

5)

6)J Michael Stracynski's Thor(2007-2011)

7) 10) Frank Miller's Daredevil(1995-`1998)

If Lee and Kirby's run on Thor is not on here I won't even bother.
JaredRWebb12
JaredRWebb12 - 3/13/2017, 10:11 AM
@monsterswin - I got Walt Simonson's over on the other bracket
monsterswin
monsterswin - 3/15/2017, 8:28 AM
@JaredRWebb12 - Simonson was great but no Lee/Kirby Thor is a joke...right?
JaredRWebb12
JaredRWebb12 - 3/15/2017, 12:50 PM
@monsterswin - I'll admit, that run did slip through the cracks(and for that I apologize, selection is a very flawed process, and some runs did slip through)
