I’m far from the biggest fan of the supernatural universe, but I do enjoy the characters and want all of them on film.  These are just some of my ideas for films and TV shows.  Don’t have any one shot ideas but I’m sure there could be some solid ones.

Dr. Strange 1
1.       The first key is this is not an origins film.  The ancient one is already training Baron Mordo and Dr. Strange.  Both of them are in training to become the next ancient one.  They have tension with each other, but they are still good friends.

2.       Baron Mordo is older, he wants to take over the Ancient Ones place, in doing so he decides to try and make a deal with Dormammu.  He brings him and his sister into our dimension, but all Dormammu wants is revenge on the Ancient one (Who threw him from our dimension a long time ago).

3.       Dormmamu kills the Ancient one, but leaves Mordo.

4.       Dr. Strange then goes after Mordo and brings him nearly to death, he then leaves him to die.

5.       Dormammu and Umar go on to create their plan to take over our Dimension.

6.       Dormammu wants to bring Shuma-Gorath to help him take over the universe, his goal is to bring him from the cancerverse into our dimension.  This will require a log of power and will weaken him.  Therefor Umar must defend him from Dr. Strange

7.       Dr. Strange is able to defeat Umar, who leaves scared.  Dr. Strange stopped and sends Dormammu to the cancerverse while he is weak.

These are the main things I want to see in this film.  An Introduction to the magical universe, and see Dormammu for the first time.

Dr. Strange 2
1.       Dr. Strange now is living with Wong his friend to start this film.  Dr. Strange though begins to get attacked by Satanish by day, and nightmare by night.  Essentially he is under attack whether asleep or awake

2.       Dr. Strange finds out Baron Mordo is bringing these demons to attack him as revenge, he then must go after him in order to kill him and stop these attacks.

3.       Dr. Strange eventually finds Mordo and kills him, in doing so the demons stop attacking him.

This movie will be more of the personal battle.  Against his old friend, and not the same global war that we see often.  It gives us a sense that he is constantly in danger as he is always being tormented by demons.
Dr. Strange 3
1.       Umar finds a way to bring Dormammu back from the cancerverse.

2.       Dormammu has gone insane now.  Umar  thought he would be helpful to her but the cancerverse made him snap.  He goes on a rage and kills Umar, he then summons an army of the Mindless ones and desires to destroy the world.

3.       Dr. Strange of course must defeat Dormammu, and this time Dormammu has his full power

This one goes more global, Dormammu has the potential to take over the world now so it becomes a much bigger battle as the closing chapter for Dr. Strange.

Throwing out my casting hopes for this film.
Joaquin Phoenix as Dr. Strange.  He's one of the best actors out there, has played tons of different roles.  He goes from a soft actor to an intense actor quickly, which I find to be perfect for Dr. Strange (Just watch him as Commodus in Gladiator)

Benedict Cumberbatch as Dormammu.  Let's be honest this character isn't going to have much need for the face of an actor.  It's all about the voice/mocap because it will probably have a lot of CGI on the burning head.  So I think his voice is fantastic, it isn't intensly deep, but a chilling sense.  (listen to Smaug in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug)

Viggo Mortenson as Baron Mordo. Just look at that face and tell me it isn't perfect for Mordo! In all honesty he hs a solid actor.  I havn't seen anything where he plays a bad guy, but he has a history of being one great actor.

Angelina Jolie as Umar.  She can play someone creepy really well.  Not sure if that's the nices thing to say, but I really like her ability to pull off the creepy.  Think she would do nicely.  (Watch her as

The TV portion I’m not going to spend as much time on, just quick little points I’d like from movies.

Moon Knight
1.       First few episodes are origins.
2.       Moon Knight then works with the committee to take down werewolf by night
3.       Werewolf then shows him the committee is are the main villains
4.       We see Moonknight let werewolf go, and take down the committee.

Joel Edgerton as Moonknight.

Blade season 1
1.       Deacon frost as the main villain
2.       Through the season blade builds the Nightstalkers consisting of Hannibal King, Frank Drake and John Carik.
3.       Set up Dracula throughout the season.

Blade played by Tyrese Gibson (that’s a risk to say the least, but I’m not totally against it)

Ghost Rider season 1
1.       Johnny Blaze is the ghost rider.
2.       Blackout as main villain
3.       Set up Mephisto.
4.       Use a few other villains, ghost rider has about 10-15 solid villains that can be used.

Norman Reedus for Johnny Blaze

The Midnight Sons
1.       Ghost Rider, Hannibal King, Blade, and Moon Knight
2.       Mephisto is the villain
3.       4 episodes (Use the same format as the defenders Netflix series)
4.       End with taking down mephisto.

After this I’m down for another Blade season with Dracula as the main villain.  Ghost rider can have another season, maybe have blackheart return.  Or someone else like deathwatch.  But characters like Orb, Aqueduct, Blackout, Deathwatch ect. Can be used.

There you have it, thoughts? Comments? Hates? Likes? Hope you enjoyed this quick little checklist for how I’d like the Magical universe to be created.

I think that this is something they could easily manage using the Netflix model. I think perhaps we will get a rotating roster for the 4 shows. Dardevil and Jessica Jones get a second season, Luke Cage and Iron Fist combine for Heroes for Hire and for the second phase of Netflix they introduce Moon Knight.

As well it seems Marvel is keen to explore the idea of miniseries and event series so it's likely we could even get something along the lines of an 8 episode event series like Agent Carter but on Netflix and focused on any of these characters.

Great article!

These are all great ideas, especially the idea to kick off the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe. I would love to see Blade, Moon Knight and Ghost Rider get there own tv shows or films.

Ghost Rider's budget would be too big for television if you want it to look good. It can work if you want it to look like dogshit. Ghost Rider is best left represented at the cinema. Just need to reboot it is all

What's this? Not a single mention of Clea? For shame.

I still think the best thing to do is to Have Dr. Strange be an origin story. If only so the audience is introduced to the way supernatural works in the MCU in the same way Thor 1 had to convey and understanding to the audience of how Asgard can exist in the MCU.

This isn't an old familiar science fiction story. We can't just jump into it like they did with Incredible Hulk. And the best way to introduce the supernatural to the audience is have them identify with Stephen Strange as he, himself is being introduced to a side of this world of aliens, gods, and super heroes born of scientific accidents or built by engineering geniuses.

Also I think Hellstorm would make an excellent occult series for Marvel. The son of a demon king working as a professor of anthropology and the occult spends his off hours stopping the monsters and fiends his father unleashes upon the earth and banishing them to hell. Somewhere between Supernatural, Sleepy Hollow, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And could be done on a relatively smaller budget than Ghost Rider.

Anyway, fan-trailer of Doctor Strange starring Luke Evans.
