I’ve read quite a few people giving their ideas for how the new lot of Star Wars films should be and usually it’s just a rehash of previous films or something from the Extended Universe to do with Thrawn or the Yuuzhan Vong. This is a really quick idea might not be to everyone’s liking but what if it went something like…
Luke (childless…so dedicated to being a Jedi no time for the ladies, not that he’s a virgin, tell me this face hasn't Jedi Mind Tricked a few Total Recall style 3 breasted women into bed…
Whoever did that pic I salute you.
Anyway I digress.
Luke sets up new Jedi school thingy. There’s only a handful of select students including the sons of Han and Leia, who also have a daughter who has decided against the training as she is unsure about the whole ‘old way of thinking’ Jedi / Sith etc.
This is definitely not like other ideas because they aren’t called Ben, Jaina, Jaceon or Anakin. Honest.
Anyway the Jedi school/training whatever teaches them full history of Jedi/Sith and when Han and Leia’s youngest son (the Youngling Solo) goes through training he is torn about its moral validity. Is the manipulation of the force morally right? He isn’t sure whether he agrees with Ben, I mean Oldling Solo, his Jedi Knight older brother, or his ‘new wave’ sister who believes the way of the Jedi is outdated.
Whatever the new galactic threat is it has a new way of thinking almost like a new religion vying for dominance against the old (think of this war more like the Crusades in the 11th Century. Maybe the New Republic are even responsible for starting it by starting the expulsion of any New Thinkers). The main antagonist General or Admiral (see even I couldn’t help it I’m thinking of blue skin and red eyes) or whatever leading this threat gets a helping hand when an apparent Sith helps him against Oldling Solo and another Jedi Knight. The Sith is very powerful and skilled. Luke is informed blah blah blah and they figure it’s not a Sith, there is no rule of two no master and apprentice and it’s just a Dark Jedi acting alone.
Anyway eventually revealed it’s Youngling Solo or Sister Solo who is the Dark Jedi (throughout the films would make us believe it could be either of them or even none of them… a proper whodunnit haha) Their plan is to wipe out the Jedi and all evidence and teachings of manipulation of the force in order to save the future of the galaxy as they are convinced that history is destined to repeat itself and it is the Sith AND Jedi that are as bad as each other and ultimately equally responsible for all that has gone before.
This would make them not a true villain’s villain. Not power mad or anything like that (you know how Hollywood love the ‘not quite a real villain baddy at the moment) and the reveal would be a great way of making us question who is right and who is wrong. Which way of thinking is the wrong way? Are the Jedi inherently bad? Are they destined to keep producing an evil counterpart to balance out?
Basically did Anakin actually fulfil the prophecy in the first place by turning to the dark side and bringing the ‘balance to the force’ that the prophecy talked about by killing all of the Jedi and leaving 2 on each side…Yoda/Obi Wan and Sidious/Vader. Was that his destiny? Did Luke knock the force out of balance by ‘saving’ Vader and him killing Sidious so the Jedi outweighed the Sith?
The only way for true balance to exist in the force is eradication of all those that manipulate it. That is what the son or daughter of Han and Leia could be doing and believe is the only way forward.
I realise this has both rehashed and EU elements in it but hopefully a new twist on it. There would also need to be subplots etc but like I said I just thought of this and wanted to spew the idea up without thinking it through and refining it so it was smacking you in your geeky fanboy chops as raw unadulterated fracked up fanfic
Thoughts?
Or you could just get on with the mandatory Marvel v DC arguments and throw in some Sony/Fox bashing for good measure.
