Why Spider-man Needed a Re-boot, and Other Things

These are old articles of mine, pertaining to why Sam Raimi's "Spider-man" trilogy needed a re-boot, and why "The Amazing Spider-man" was a successful re-boot.

Editorial Opinion

When it came to Spider-man in film, everyone has their own opinion of which movies are good and which are bad. I get fed up with "This one is better because this thing is true and everyone who disagrees is dumb". Which is the majority of editorials on CBM. It's not exactly like Spidey is the talk of the town right now, but I thought I'd post these two articles from a movie blog I used to write for, mostly because I wanted to bring up some aspects of the movies that really aren't things you can question. It's not "Andrew Garfield is a better actor than Tobey and if you disagree you don't deserve an opinion", instead it pertains to who really portrayed their comic-book characters in a way more fitting to the way they were intended to be. Take these two articles how you will, I just want to throw my two cents in and try to class up this editorial section a little bit.

I didnt like TASM and I dont think a reboot was necessary especially how soon after Raimi's movies it was made.

The "too soon" argument is BS. How big of a time gap will there be between TDKR and our new batman? 3 years? I don't hear any of those complaints. The fact is they are two different franchises and people need to get over themselves when it comes to the time difference and start looking at them as individual movies separated from a time-frame.

@Nova
I would love to throw down with Levi, but I find it stupid to argue with someone about which movie is better when what it boils down to in the end is opinion. In the end, all I'm writing is my opinion. It's true what I'm saying about How TASM follows source material more, but if Levi just enjoys the Raimi films more and thinks they're better films, there's nothing I can say that's going to change his mind. His opinion is his opinion and mine is mine.

Spider-Man is and always will be my favorite superhero. I thought the reboot was disappointing and while I liked Andrew Garfield with his take of Peter Parker the movie itself didn't all up. They really modernized it way too much IMO.. Maybe it wasn't even that.. The movie just seemed to lack something the raining trilogy didn't in the first two films at least. The villain was bad and I hated the costume in every way.. It's over and done with tho the second one I think will be better and they're returning to the original amazing spiderman look, which is awesome.. And the sinister six ? If they do it right hell yeah :)

@Staten you're in a way proving my point. With Raimi they killed th franchise with sm3. Whether or not TASM was a better movie over the Raimi movies is debateable, but TASM laid better groundwork for the Spider-man universe. TASM 2 should blow the other movies out of the water.
