ISSUE #1
Classified Government Facility, 1991
“They just found him like this sir.”
“Found him? Where was he?”
“Kuwait. Department H sent him in to rescue some PoW’s and this happened.”
“Do you know how much money we spent making him into a weapon? They’re going to jeopardize that for a few PoW’s?”
“I understand your frustration, sir, but-“
“No. Get me a meeting with the board. NOW!”
“Yes, sir”
The soldier is sent away by the older man, who sits in a chair next to a lifeless body. The old man is a General, we can tell by his medals and uniform. He has a concerned look on his face. Probably for his paycheck, but maybe, just maybe an ounce of him cares for the soldier in front of him in critical condition. There are burns, cuts, and bullet holes covering his body.
“Oh, Logan. Twenty years of hard work and this is how they repay you.”

CIA Headquarters, 1971:
“Right this way, please.”
A receptionist leads our wounded soldier down an office building hallway. He is dressed in a nice suit, looking very out of place, and hasn’t aged since between now and then. He is pointed towards on office where the General, much younger, sits.
“Hello, Logan.”
“Lieutenant Stryker, how are you?”
“Please, I told you to call me William.”
“Sure. So what’s all this about? I gotta tell ya, I’m not the suit-&-tie guy.”
“I’ll get right to the point. Your military record is outstanding.”
“Well thanks, but it’s nothing special.”
“No, no. I mean your real record. American Civil War, World Wars 1 and 2, a tour during Korea, the Cuban Missile Crisis.”
“How did you…?”
“I have done extensive research on your kind, Logan. But never, never, have I seen someone with your gifts. You survived bullets, knives, airplane crashes, mustard gas. At one point, I think they dropped an A-Bomb on you.”
“Hurt like a mother… What do you want?”
“I want to offer you an opportunity to serve your country. Join the CIA. Go behind enemy lines. Maybe even kill a few dictators. I read how close you came to Castro.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“What’s there to think about, Logan? You’ll have a great salary, a chance to explore the world, and you’ll get to do what you’re best at. What do you say?”

Classified Board Room, 1991
General Stryker sits at a table, his back towards a wall. Along the other wall, a large group of Senior CIA officials have gathered.
“You tried to kill my three million dollar weapon?” Stryker is very angry.
“No. We sent him to rescue our men. He is the only one capable of such a feat.” The woman official answers.
“Reasonable,” Stryker replies, “but why was he there? I know this was a set up.”
“William,” the eldest man answers. “All in all, your ‘weapon’ has seen to much in his career. He’s gone rogue once. If that happens again, if he talks..”
“He wouldn’t. Logan is our greatest soldier, spy, you name it. There was no reason for a suicide mission!”
“It was you who supplied with the information on how to kill him. You told us about the history between him and…”
They are interrupted by a frantic nurse. Her clothes are ripped and covered in blood.
“General, its Logan. He’s, he’s lost it. He flipped out, started killing everyone. I think it’s due to brain damage.”
“Where is he now?” asks Stryker.
“He escaped. They’re tracking him through the forest.”
“Well, General,” the eldest one says, “the dog has rabies. Put him down.”
A smile crosses the man’s face as Stryker throws him a disgusted look and leaves.

Quantico Marine Base, Quantico VA, 1972
“Do I really have to do this?”
Marines surround Logan, as Stryker watches on.
“Yes, it proves you have skills instead of just fighting like a rabid wolverine.”
Logan grins as the Marines begin to spar with him. Its four on one. Logan holds his own against them.
“Logan, a year of training in the world’s most lethal martial arts and you can’t beat four Marines? No offense, gentlemen.”
Logan, angry, performs various throws and takedowns on the Marines until Stryker blows a whistle.
Stryker hands each Marine a stack of hundred dollar bills as they leave.
“What’d’ya think?” Logan asks.
“Oh, we know you’ll survive. That’s all that matters.”

Forest Outside of Classified Government Facility, 1991
A soldier approaches Stryker. It’s snowing badly and all are shivering, and bundled up.
“General Stryker. Do you think he’ll survive out here? It has to be twenty below zero. He’ll be frozen solid by the time we find him.”
“Trust me, son. He’ll survive. And he won’t be found unless he wants to be.”
Soldiers march between trees. A shirtless Logan sits in a tree, high above ground.
He unsheathes three blades on each hand, and lunges. A flurry of slashes drops the soldiers. He disrobes one, and makes his way towards Stryker.
“Update for me, Private?” Stryker asks, trying hard to see through the snow.
Logan grabs him by the throat and extends his claws, while Stryker pleads for his life.
“Logan! Please! It wasn’t me!!”
“Who are you? Why did you capture me?”
“Capture? Logan, it’s me, William. Please come inside.”
Logan hesitates. He takes too long, and a new group of soldiers open fire.
“NOOOO!” Stryker yells as bullets almost hit him. Logan takes a few before running into the blizzard.
In the board room, the eldest officer makes a phone call.
“Wolverine has gone rogue. You know what to do.”
