Spider-Man has been spotted in Germany!
Yes, you read that right, Tom Holland has been spotted taking photographs with fans in Leipzig, which is where Marvel's Captain America: Civil War is currently shooting. Is he there to join the shoot or just spectate? Well, according to ComicBook, Holland has in fact joined the cast on set and is expected to film throughout this week, which would likely confirm rumors that suggested Peter Parker is a bigger part of the story than fans were initially led to believe.
In a press release, presumably released at the D23 Expo, Holland was officially listed as a member of the cast of Captain America: Civil War, which would mark the first time Marvel/Disney has officially acknowledged his presence in the highly anticipated sequel. Check out this tweet below:
Additionally, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote his winter release Ron Howard's In The Heart Of The Sea, which also stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Holland made his first public comments about landing the role of Spider-Man and like nearly everyone Marvel's cast before him, he was fairly vague. Finally, considering the fact that, during Marvel's D23 presentation, Kevin Feige revealed that Captain America: Civil War would wrap sometime within the week, chances are good they're currently filming the film's finale and/or final battle and if Holland is in attendance, chances are even better that Spider-Man is somehow involved in that sure-to-be epic finale. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual spot and be sure to check out Holland with a fan in the photos below!
“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
