FANTASTIC FOUR: Diego Luna Addresses Recent Reed Richards Casting Rumor

Quite a few intriguing Fantastic Four rumors have been doing the rounds of late, with recent reports claiming that Marvel Studios' top picks for the lead roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm are Diego Luna and Eiza González.

Other names have been mentioned in connection with these particular parts, of course, so it's difficult to know who - if any - are the current frontrunners, but if the Andor star really is in contention to play FF leader Mr. Fantastic, he's obviously not about to confirm his involvement.

While chatting to Kristian Harloff on his YouTube show, Luna was asked about the Reed Richards rumor, and while he didn't deny anything outright, he did suggest that he's going to be far too busy filming season 2 of Andor to make the jump to the MCU anytime soon.

"I was talking about that this morning, like the rumors. When you become part of rumors, half of the rumors were real, you know. It’s just incredible the amount of stuff that I see now out there. The only thing I can tell you is that, for the next two years, I’m busy. In two years, we’ll see if what I want to do is even film."

This would seem to take him out of the running, but again, even if he has somehow figured out a workaround to shoot Fantastic Four, he's hardly going to admit it!

Matt Shakman is directing the reboot from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters on February 14th, 2025.

This would be the worst miscasting since Jimmy Carter played President.

He would be cool as Johnny Storm though.

@r0njeremy -

What are you implying?

I am implying he looks too young to be Mr. Fantastic, but would look great as Johnny Storm, as I stated.

By the way, the VAST majority of Hispanic people prefer to be referred to as Hispanic if they won't be called by their actual nationalities. My Mexican wife strongly agrees.

The wokie world that wants to label them as Latino or LatinX is totally eschewed by the overwhelming majority of them.

You trying to stir this up as some racial thing greatly offends me. You come off as a troublemaking a$$hole who likes to ignite flames.

Shame on you.

@DocSpock - Are we looking at the same person? Diego Luna is 40 and he looks it, well he at least looks like he’s in his mid 30s, definitely a perfect age for Reed. He looks way too old to be playing Johnny.

@DocSpock - I agreed with everything you said until you mentioned what the VAST majority of Hispanic people prefer. This is bullshit. you can say "most of the Hispanics I know", but unless you spoke with the Vast Majority of a race, don't take it upon yourself to speak for them. People say dumb shit like this too much and it needs to stop. I'm black, and I can tell you that wen people say "Blacks prefer this" or "Most Blacks prefer that", while I cannot speak for every black person in the world (But I was born in the biggest African American community in the world), What they say is usually way off.

Not Hispanics I know. There have been multiple large national polls regarding this over the last several years that have shown this. I conclude that you are too young or uninformed to know this. Or you just like to start up fights on the internet.

He probably is. I'll try to be open minded.

But if they went with unknowns like they did it with Thor a decade ago that would be cool.

@NinnesMBC - highly doubt we get a unknown for Reed, now Johnny and sue will probably be unknowns

Love Diego but he’s completely wrong for Reed for reasons that have nothing to do with his ethnicity.

I could see it. He’d be a good fit for the role. Not like he has a long future in the Stat Wars franchise or anything.

Damn dude, Marvel is just annoying at this point. All focus on diversifying and taking liberties with Stan Lee’s creations and the movie just going to turn out mid anyways with lots of cheesy jokes even my 70 yr old mom finds corny
