Earlier this year, Ted star Mila Kunis was spotted going to lunch with Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman and it took the internet no time at all to conclude that 2 + 2 = Sue Storm.
Since then, Kunis' name has been linked to the role of Invisible Woman on multiple occasions and it was just a few days ago that we learned she's supposedly being eyed to play a female version of The Thing (who would have to be Sharon Ventura rather than a gender-swapped Ben Grimm). Now, though, the actress has categorically denied being involved with the Marvel Studios reboot.
"Apparently, if you go to lunch with somebody who is also in the industry, you then start working together according to the internet," Kunis says in the video below. "We went to a deli and had lunch together and the, the next day, I was somehow in Fantastic Four. I am not in Fantastic Four, but I know who is."
If she's telling the truth about knowing who will star in the movie, then all these casting rumours are likely bogus and Shakman, who previously helmed WandaVision for Marvel Studios, has already assembled the team.
This weekend, there have even been rumblings about Kristen Bell playing Sue, so here's hoping an announcement is made sooner rather than later.
As noted, Shakman will be at the helm of Fantastic Four, and while a lot of names have been rumoured for Reed, including Adam Driver, no one has been officially cast yet.
We've heard nothing about the Human Torch and The Thing (outside of those weird rumours about Kunis playing a gender-swapped version of Ben Grimm), though Galactus and the Silver Surfer are expected to serve as the reboot's main antagonists, a decision which has only served to increase excitement for the reboot. We recently learned that Antonio Banderas is being eyed to play the world-devouring baddie.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
