Fantastic Four fans have been waiting years (literally) to find out who will play the heroic quartet in Marvel Studios' upcoming reboot, and while we don't have an official announcement just yet, it sounds like Kevin Feige and co. are finally closing in on the movie's main cast.
In this week's edition of the Hot Mic podcast, Jeff Sneider refutes the recent rumor that Matt Smith has been offered the role of Reed Richards (though he does think he is/was in the running), but is almost certain that Vanessa Kirby is now a lock to play Sue Storm.
The Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning actress has been rumored to be in the running for Invisible Woman for quite a while, so this wouldn't come as a major surprise - but we do also have some juicy new details!
According to Sneider, The Boys star Jack Quaid is "very close" to landing the part of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. He's also heard that The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach has been cast... but not as Ben Grimm.
Apparently, Marvel is looking for a "fat white guy" to play The Thing, which leads Sneider to speculate that Moss-Bachrach might be portraying either Doctor Doom or the Silver Surfer. Galactus is another possibility, but Jeff believes the rumor that the world-devouring villain will be played by a Latino actor (Antonio Banderas?) is accurate.
If any of this is accurate, expect the trades to weigh in soon. For now, let us know what you make of these potential FF picks in the comments.
UPDATE: Sneider's source has since been in touch to say that he doesn't think Quaid will be Johnny Storm.
