FANTASTIC FOUR: Marvel Rumored To Be Seeking Diverse Actors For "Most, If Not All" Team Members

Best to take this one with a pinch of salt given the source, but a new rumor is claiming that Marvel Studios is looking for diverse actors to play Sue, Johnny, Ben and Reed in The Fantastic Four reboot.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently suggested that we'll be waiting quite a while before any kind of official Fantastic Four casting news, but that doesn't mean Marvel/Disney haven't begun to think about the actors the might like to see take on the lead roles.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski remain fan-favorite picks to play Sue Storm and Reed Richards, but the former has already made it very clear that it's not going to happen, and it doesn't sound like they'd be in with a shot even if they were interested! According to Fandomwire, Marvel is actively looking to cast diverse actors for "most, if not all" four members of the team.

This reportedly comes direct from the site's Marvel source.

"They are looking to specifically cast people of color. They also want this new team to be younger, aged 20s-30s. They plan to keep Sue and Johnny as actual siblings this time in the same race, but they are open to mixing all races in casting this family. For example, Human Torch and Invisible Woman could be Latinos, allowing Mr. Fantastic to be Black or Asian. They are still very open.”

While it's not remotely difficult to believe that Marvel would want to add some diversity to the Fantastic Four, the source is a little sketchy. They have had some scoops pan out in the past, but have also been way off on others. To be fair, that does come with the territory to some extent, so we're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here - especially since this report does make a lot of sense.

If Marvel Studios is indeed casting all diverse actors to play Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing, who would you most like to see land the roles? Drop us a comment down below.

@TheCantilope - It's the only reason I came here.

As far as the story/rumors/whatever, we won't know until it happens. But, we both know that the comments are predictable (and I do NOT mean that in a negative way).

Some fans want casting to be one way, and others are less concerned, and they provide their arguments to each other.

I'm just happy if I'm not reading a bunch of insults being lobbed at one another.

@LSHF - Unfortunately thats usually ghe way it goes. I've always made it very clear that I want the movie versions of characters to look like the comic versions, simply because its what I spent over 30 years reading about. But I've called a racist several times on this site.

@CorndogBurglar - I think there should be a rule here, that whenever someone calls someone something negative, that the statement should first show the actual definition of the word in question, since the definitions "seem" to change according to who is using it.
