New SUPERMAN And THE FANTASTIC FOUR Stills Spotlight Two Iconic Superhero Couples

To mark National Superhero Day, we have new stills from two of this year's biggest comic book movies, Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps...

USA Today has shared some new promo images for a number of 2025's biggest movies, including DC Studios' Superman and Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The stills spotlight two of the most enduring and iconic couples in comic book history, with Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) having a laugh with Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) before their fateful space mission, and the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) sharing a moment with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan).

Check out the new images at the links below, and be sure to head on over to USA Today to see other stills from the likes of Jurassic World Rebirth, The Ballerina, How To Train Your Dragon, and more.

Superman also stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Sara Sampaio is on board as Lex's assistant/lover Eve Teschmacher, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell will play "Ma" and "Pa" Kent, and Milly Alcock's Supergirl has been confirmed to make her debut ahead of her own Woman of Tomorrow movie.

"And that’s a wrap," Gunn posted earlier this year when filming concluded. "God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set - and for that I am forever grateful."

You can check out an updated synopsis for the movie below.

"In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind."

The Fantastic Four reboot also stars Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, A Quiet Place Day One) as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.

Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich are also on board in undisclosed roles.

Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the movie will take place in an alternate universe, but we know that Marvel's First Family will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, so we wouldn't be surprised if they find their way into the main MCU timeline by the end of this movie.

"Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet.

Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal."

Matt Shakman directs The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.

Where is Reed? I see what I guess is Susan, and some shlubby guy with a mustache.

Thunderbolts will be the biggest MCU movie since the last MCU movie!

The box office projections are not looking good for it...

Cool!!.

It’s nice to get some romance back in cbms now since it can add to the humanity of the story imo if done well.

IMO I feel like the buzz around Supes suit would have been much better had Gunn released a pic like this first instead of that BTS-not-BTS picture of Supes putting his boots on.

I like the suit nonetheless; but I think he chose the wrong picture to unveil it.

@RedFury - agreed…

It just made it seem like the photo was a last minute thing since they were gonna start shooting outdoors soon so needed something to get out officially before the paparazzi pics

@TheVisionary25 - yeah exactly. His excitement to show off his Supes, while also getting ahead of the Paparazzi is probably what lead to this.

I'll give it to Snyder, his unveiling of Superman, and Batman were definitely superior. That Superman pic in the vault was gold, and even though it turned into Sad Batman, I thought his Batman unveiling was also fantastic.

@RedFury - I do wonder if they released some of the pictures knowing that it wasn’t the greatest. So that when it gets closer to the release date, fans see updated pictures that are more favorable and it’s almost a relief for the fans and might get happier with the look of the suit. To
me this picture is the best one so far of the suit.

@SonOfAGif - Superman and Lois
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/28/2025, 7:49 PM
@SonOfAGif - It was Peter and Betty and Peter and Gwen before it was Peter and MJ. And even after that there was Black Cat and others. Peter settled for MJ after the love of his life died. She was second best.

For Superman it's always been Lois.
Lana Lang and Lori Lomaris were only ever created to be previous girlfriends. They were alreday over the second we were introduced to them. And sure there's been Wonder Woman but mostly in alternate universes like Dark Knight Returns, Kingdom Come and that one time in canon, The New 52.

Superman & Lois all the way.

@ObserverIO - Anyone who says "Face it Tiger you just hit the jackpot" because you've met her is worse than second best, Petey must have been desperate. Always found her pretty gross as a kid comic reader, probably contributed to turning me off women with an excess of sass in later life....
