Conan Movie Being Rewritten

IGN Movies checked in with its secret Conan source to find out what the current status is of the barbarian's big screen return. Nu Image/Millennium Films is producing the new Conan the Barbarian movie for Lionsgate.

We were advised that screenwriters Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are currently penning their contractual rewrite of the first draft. The filmmakers are still talking to some directors but expect to engage more of them once they have a screenplay everyone is happy with.

As much as all the elements involved want production to start sooner rather than later, we were told, they are committed to having a solid story set first.

We have also heard that the success of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Age of Conan - Hyborian Adventures has convinced film executives of the strength of the character's fanbase.
