Conan Producers Have 3 Actors In Mind

And they all suck! Ah no, maybe I'm being harsh, check em out and tell me what you think...

Deadline Hollywood reports that Nu Image/Millennium had narrowed the list down to two: Kellan Lutz (from the Twilight films, the new 90210 and A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Jason Momoa (from Stargate: Atlantis). Apparently now their is a third name in the hat, but all we know is its “another unnamed but better established actor.”

Momoa, who is half Hawaiian, would certainly be a different look for Conan, he is huge and intimidating looking, but having seen his acting on Stargate, I'm not too impressed. Lutz seems far too young and is in Twilight and 90210...thats all:)

Anyway, nothing is set in stone. But hopefully whoever this third man is, he's of a slightly higher caliber. This casting call gives you some idea of what Markus Nispel and Millenium will be looking for:

"He’s in his 20s to early 30s, Caucasian, powerfully built, broad-shouldered, sun browned skin lined with scars. Piercing blue eyes and square-cut black mane, tall. He is a savage killer that has matured into the refinement his father tried to teach him when he was young. Conan is very smart, almost inhumanly strong, and very cunning. His entire life, from the moment of his birth, has been shaped by violence. Being the last of his tribe and having to watch his father die a cruel death, he is determined avenge his peoples’ slaughter by killing all those who led the attack on the Cimmerians, including the all-powerful Khalar Singh. He is prepared to die in order to accomplish his goal. What Conan did not expect, was to find a reason to live…"

Oh my [EXPLITIVE]-ing GOD! You've GOT to be kidding, right? PLEASE tell me you're kidding! First off, Momoa isn't HUGE (far from it) and he's anything BUT intimidating (he looks constantly constipated!)! Luts is also far from huge and too emo ('Twilight'?! '90210'?!!) to play anything but target-practice in a Conan film! I'm off to go puke now....

...gawd...

You just KNOW Luts is gonna be getting it. Well, i'll be working on my picket sign if anybody needs me...

Lutz looks more like a Captain America hopeful. Give Momoa a better hair cut and he could look alot like the Cimmerian.

I am 6'1 and 220 and would need to bulk up quite a bit to have the body of Conan.

Lutz isn't even close to the look they are saying they want. 6'1 175 doesn't come close. He would have to start a steroid routine yesterday to put on the mass needed to pull off Conan.

Momoa is 6'4" and 210. He would need to pack on the protein to play the role. At least he has the frame and height.

Hmmm...I'd like to see what Lutz can do outside of Twilight. He's one of a bout 3 people from those movies that showed any glimmer of talent. Is he right for the part? Not really, but neither is the other dude.

Craptacula. I'm thinking whoever they cast is doomed, really. The director will ultimately be responsible for making the movie feel like Conan and that's where my faith is lost. Forget this movie.

I will repeat. Lutz - 6'1" and 175. I am in pretty decent shape and have almost 50 pounds on him, but I don't have near the mass needed to look like Conan should. I can't picture a lean. mean Conan, but this choice of actors would lead me to believe we would be looking at just that.

@sirprize-thats pretty damn funny.
They just need to find a really big guy that can read lines. He doesn't have to be a great actor and def cannot be one of these teen magazine cover boys. Conan is a man and not a pre-pubescent punk.

Guys... isn't this the one time when the producers really do NEED to maybe look at a wrestler for the part... Triple H anyone?
saymekian
saymekian - 1/14/2010, 10:48 AM
I don't know about you guys but I can imagine Lutz as being even more buff than he is now with long hair and he could probably pull it off. He is the only character in the Twilight movies, and books for that matter, that I liked. I say give him a chance.
version4
version4 - 1/14/2010, 10:51 AM
Maybe Lutz can play Conan's metrosexual son Vidor... that is the closest I would accept him getting to this movie. I'll leave it at that, because i don't want to taste my breakfast again. I would rather see Conan O'Brien play Conan than one of these guys... maybe thats a stretch, but it would only stretch an inch past what these guys are pulling.

@Shaman, I'll bring the poster boards for the picket signs

version4 - 1/14/2010, 10:55 AM
@saymekian I retract that last statement partially, because i agree that Lutz does seem to have the most potential out of the actors in the Twilight series. But i just don't think THIS role is right for him. For Conan, he just seems a little too... whats the word... pretty?

@BmanHall If you're going for a lean, mean Conan, Randy orton would probably nail it. he has an aire of arrogance in that pic you posted... and dude is bigger and more chiseled now.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 1/14/2010, 11:00 AM
But Randy Orton doesn't look like that now. He's much thinner, bald, and is very serpentine looking..maybe he could play the snake king!

HHH has the look. Remember when he came out in that throne for a match years ago..dressed as Conan! Looked savage. But, as much as I enjoy his work on the mic in WWE, I don't think he could pull it off(See Blade Trinity)

You know who seems like he can genuinely act up a storm, CM Punk. He is by far the most convincing on the mic in WWE, I forget he's just acting out a gimmick when I watch him. He also looks the part, only, he might be a little short and would need to bulk up more.

Hey Ror, i think you're right about CM Punk... he looks almost dirty, and the mic skills seem to point to at least a decent line-reader under there. i forget sometimes that its a gimmick, too. He is short, though.

HHH has the look (I do remember that match, and he did look like Conan)... but his acting is attrocious!

HHH has the build but can't act for shit. Randy has lost alot of mass and CM Punk couldn't put it on. I have no idea which would be perfect. Paul Telfer is probably the best choice so far but even he looks young. Don't they make MEN anymore??? LOL :P

What about that guy that body doubled Arnold's cameo in Terminator 4? He seems like a new-age Arny! Just stick him in there, lol. :)

Ranger14 - 1/14/2010, 11:27 AM
I think the simple fact that people are referring to a 6'4" 245 Randy Orton as a "LEAN, mean Conan" shows that the two mentioned in the article aren't right for the part.

Shaman, Paul Telfer is 32, so that would be fitting in regard to age.

@Ranger14 Exactly! Couldn't have said it better.

@Shaman ever heard of a guy called Matt Morgan? Used to be on American Gladiators. 7' tall, made completely of muscle... He wrestles for TNA right now. Intimidating as hell... might be a nice look for Conan.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 1/14/2010, 11:46 AM
oooh no Matt Morgan, I hate him, he comes over like a total douche(its funny that iv started using that word since joining this site, my mates think im strange) he's useless on the mic so I can't see him even coming close to being able to act in front of a camera. That being said, I do want someone that can act and be convincing, but this is Conan we are talking about at the same time,. I mean Ahnuld did a good job of it for Gods sake!

@LEEE777 Twilight is to blame for many attrocities to come, not just in the CBM world. I actually had an argument with my 19 yr old coousin and her friends yesterday about who was the better actor...Taylor Loftner or Matt Damon(WTF? she's studying to become an actress!). The logic in her argument defied reason....proof once again that this franchise is slowly turning our youth into mush-minded zombies, all while leaving its sparkley path throughout the world.

version4 - 1/14/2010, 11:58 AM
@Ror i think Matt Morgan is probably a total douche in real life... that being said, you gotta admit that he looks pretty intimidating. As long as he doesn't open his mouth, he'd be great!

You know, if Batista wasn't so old, maybe he would be ok.he's quite bald, though...but maybe a new Conan can be bald.
