Sir Ian McKellen apparently isn't done playing the legendary wizard Gandalf quite yet. With
a new Lord of the Rings television series in production at Amazon, McKellen, who appeared on Graham Norton's BBC Radio 2 show, was asked if it was going to be annoying to have another Gandalf around.
The Academy Award-nominated star made it quite clear that there is only one Gandalf.
“What do you mean, another Gandalf?” he responded.
“I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked. But are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is over 7000 years old, so I’m not too old.”
Amazon's TV series won't be a re-adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's
LOTR novels, but will instead focus on "unexplored stories" from Middle-Earth. How big of a role Gandalf will play in the series remains to be seen, but it's good to know Ian McKellen is down to return if needed.
